David Ellefson Jackson bass

Got an email back:

"Hey Mike,

Thanks for your email. Keep checking the website for the latest info. All our new products will be coming out mid-January 2011. You might be surprised! "

I honestly can't wait, they will probably announce something at NAMM. I hope they make a 5 string concert, maybe bolt-on and neck-thru models at different price points. If they keep the CMG in production hopefully they drop the price to like $500 or something that's more reasonable.

Yeah probably not. All the more reason for them to do a standard run, at least then we could grab them online. Seriously a custom shop job will run at $3k - $4k. No bass is worth that in my opinion, not for me anyway but I would love one all the same.
I owned one of the late 80's Convert V's - didnt like the narrow spacing, which is why I sold it, but man it looked and played cool. I love that headstock!

Too right - guess I'm gonna have to make do with a Frank Bello sig Fender I have coming from the States!
Seriously though if Jackson start making some production line Concert basses (4 and 5 string) I'm sure there would be a market. I think they tried to change their appeal in the '90's and lost their metal/rock market. Now that they are owned by FMIC maybe they can concentrate back on their niche market.

So it turns out there's only going to be 60 total made of the signature basses. :(

But at least it says Ellefson is going to be working with Jackson, so hopefully that means the return of 5 strings & pointy headstocks.

Also I noticed in the vid he says initially through custom shop, so I think that means the Rust in Peace edition is custom shop only, and there will be mass production signature editions eventually.

Amen dude - and by the way - your name is hard to say!

oh please, they could have had Dave play a Charvette with his sig on the TR cover and people would buy them :)
provided the price is right

look at all the crummy looking FLEA basses that have sold because of the name.

I'm not a gear snob, or a "I have to be like ____ and will buy one tomorrow" type of person....and they SHOULD use a emg 35-j and 35p4 soapbars like in my older Jackson. Much better tone IMO than the 35DC's.

I'm a a big fan of his, i've always told myself i dont wanna buy a sig bass, but his is the only one i would ever consider. I would only buy his bass however if its the same as his, not a cheapo version even if it has his name on it, because a poor instrument will always be a poor instrument no matter the name on it. Thats why i hope they start making these higher quality jackson basses as a production line soon:).

what they NEED to do is bring back the old Ellefson Tbird bass line :)

here's his old one that was for sale years ago:

way too much for me at the time, so I said F-it, and bought the next best thing that was available. ( I still have it )
