David Ellefson Jackson bass

ya what they all said.. customshop only at the moment and 5grand and a l.o.n.g. wait.

the only production bass would be a concert LX or a Concert-V from the 90's like he had in the past.

the thing is really no more than a jackson CMG, with a different neck spec for him.

( some of us here own those old 5stringers with sharknecks :) )

the narrow neck won't get you 18-19mm spacing, but I never really notice the difference with my standard fingerplaying or a pick. I will say between the 2 in my pic, the Eliminator with Barden pickups sounds completely different not better or worse, just different...but naturally it is different wood...etc. so I expect that.

the NAMM show may have a production 4/5string b.o. or n.t. Concert or (insert name here ) bass to be produced for Jackson in 2011/2012 to please the fans....but who knows at this point.

I had that same 5 string, but in a metallic dark grey.
Great bass!

All the gumby Jacky's can Get out :spit:
now now KBF, you don't play the headstock, ya just gotta look at it every now and then. They made some fantastic sounding and butt-ugly looking basses for a few years.

I guess if Jackson DOES come back out with the Concert-pointy in a few different config levels, I can't see a reason it would NOT sell and be popular since people are looking for NEW, not just used.

Seriously, I want a pointy headstock 5 string Jackson

They're hard as hell to find, 1 pops up on ebay every couple of months, but that's it
unfortunately your right, they are not available too often and you'd expect to pay close to 1/2 a grand for one....

and you won't find 100 of them on ebay weekly because they just didn't make enough of them.

Ellefson's use of them for the small amount of time had Jackson thinking everyone was gonna run out and buy one like a FleaBass, but they forgot one thing....When you overprice a item out of the easy reach of the masses, you won't sell any. Well in our world in the 90's pointy anything from the 80's was being snubbed as tacky/old/cliche/80's/hairband wannabees..<<oh the lost goes on.

my point was the masses said a grand for a a Jackson was just too high for the 20 somethings to emulate their favorite bass-god who used a pointy whatever.

this is all my opinion naturally from my musical experiences thru the years with jacksons and my research and ownership of many.

p.s. and oh, the Metrodome's roof collapsed this morning if you havent watched the news and they are trying to figure out how to get all the snow off so the pressure will inflate it for MNF :(

Well I emailed Jackson and told them they should consider making basses with the pointy headstocks again, because they look better than their current basses. I said 4 and 5 string variants.....and they should also consider making an Ellefson signature.

We'll see if they reply.
