I can’t watch a lot of these videos due to the faces they make when playing virtually any note. Plays an A, scrunches their upper lip up, scowls a bit, closes eyes really, really hard...acts in pain, shakes head no, no, no but they’re saying yes, yes, yes. Then they proceed to do this over and over. Drives me nuts.

I was addressing the point someone made about how YouTube revenue may be tied to new subscriptions and not pay in some circumstances, to note that even if YouTube paid nothing the Patreon revenue I mentioned would continue.
No, it is free. You don't have to use your time to watch it if you don't want to.
Even a lot of Scott's videos are full of filler. 12-15 minute videos with only a few minutes of actual playing or instruction. It's why I couldn't bring myself to pay for a subscription.
I hope that Adam Neely never crosses over to the other side on Youtube. Still, the medium seems to push its purveyors in this direction.
It’s short for “baby boomer”. Just as lame as “millennial” or any other label meant to bring someone down just because of when they were born.
A lot of these content providers are taking time away from work/school/family/music to make these videos so I can understand why they would want to be compensated at least partially for their efforts. A very few are making a fortune.
Twitch is worse, because a live audience drives content direction with instant payment methods.
YouTube is more traditionally driven by long term campaigns, and I'd argue the content creator has less surface for burn out.
People can complain about free content as much as they want, Patreon is where you put you $ where your mouth is. No sales or market indicator driven person is going to fly their livelihood into the ground based on "gut" feelings or freeloading trolls comments.
We mine Reddit to get negative population sentiment. ML is useful to drill down $0 consumers from those that spend something in some measurable way shape or form.
If it isn't they still get +10000 for the humor
That guy can play, play, play the bass no questions asked, but yeah I want to be educated about bass, not always get cheesy one liners and schtick that is getting immature.
I never subbed his channel, but watched the early ones every now and then where he played the bass with excellent results.
Wondering why he isn't in a group similar to RHCP or something like that. He'd be a good fit for that style.

As someone surmised in an earlier post here, he's getting the YT money from his antics and if I were talented enough to have 5M people watch me do goofy things, I'd be as wacky as he is.

I agree he's probably capable of that but ... I know a lot of people who are better musicians than me who never play outside their own bedroom.
For whatever reason, I feel compelled to perform in public all the time but not everybody can or will do that.
Jim Stinett's channel is also grade A in my opinion.
Absolutely 1,000% this. Jim's lessons are incredibly useful and while he has a sense of humor he doesn't waste your time.
BassBuzz is also very good.
you should do a mashup channel.
Throw in clips of rehearsals, shows, eating at random places, road rage/stupid drivers to from locations, talk about issues in songs as a relatable arc, gear/venue issues or stellar venues, gear shopping/modding/repair, and cats playing with dogs.
