DC/VA/MD Get Together?

I'll bring out most of my gear if others do the same. i would like to be able to some gear i might not normally get a chance to play. and in turn, others will be allowed to play what i have brought. Especially, boutique amps and basses that arent normally found in GC's or smaller local music shops.

Definitely would like this to be a learning opportunity about setup and equipment.

Gah! You suck. I was gonna make this thread when I got back from orientation and you go and do it when I'm gone! :eyebrow:

It has to be before August 15th. We gotta get one of these to happen before I go to college. And it has to be an underage event because I would be angry if I couldn't do it!

I think its gotta be a jammin/playing environment. That makes it fun!!! I think it would be better to try to get it at a private place, so that it won't cost money.

[EDIT]Actually... I know a "club house" type place right down the street that could be rented out if there is interest for that. I have no idea about the costs or anything, but I think that would be a cool place to do it. I will try to get some info about it and post it up in here. Get a few people to bring their rig (I will be willing to bring my 210 and 212 MusicMan stack [someone else will need to bring an amp to power them]). I will get some info on the club house and post it up tomorrow.

These things usually work well if somebody who is a homeowner invites everyone over on a Saturday afternoon. Everybody brings rigs and basses. You CAN NOT mind other players fiddling with your gear, if you are gear paranoid, leave your gear at home.

I play guitar -very- badly.

That is what I was thinking, but I live in a town house, so I couldn't volunteer my place. If anyone in the area is willing to open their doors, it would be greatly appreciated.

We should have everyone that goes bring one food or drink or plate/napkin/utensil type item.

Hey guys. I haven't been on talkbass in a while as I've been busy with moving, the new job, and the new car (and no band :( ). I'm in Alexandria now, so I'd be down. Like DHC I'd rather just chat and check out gear than jam, but either way I'd still show up.

I can bring all my rack gear for those who are interested. I'm guessing the Kern and x wire are probably what people would want to check out the most.

Count me in... I'd offer my house but it's hellaciously small and we just got a dog last week. I'll bring a bass or two (at least #1 and #2 if possible) though =0)

It doesn't seem that anyone is stepping up to the plate to host this little get-together.....

So I will.

I will offer my house in Northern VA as the place for this gathering, inviting all of you to my home. Precisely my finished basement, which is large enough and empty enough to hold plenty of rigs and gear and may hold the sound back from the neighbors a little bit.

These gatherings usually work out best on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon since the working musicians have gigs (we should all be so lucky).

So which date would be better for everybody?

Sat July 24
Sun July 25
Sat July 31
Sun Aug 1

I feel pretty strongly about community and actually getting to meet people instead of just having a face in an avatar. :bassist:
