Dealer: Fender Ultra to replace Elite

Interesting, still the wheel should be improved, not ditched.
Apparently, pretty damn hard. Crap like this is just fuel for Fender haters.
just got a fender elite. Its awesome. Will consider another one if I can find a good price on the used market.
To be fair, my Stingray needs a tweak a few times a year, whereas I can’t remember the last time I had to adjust my Precision truss rod.
In terms of construction, I always assumed the wheel was just added to the end of a normal truss rod, as in the wheel has an allen key insert in the middle. I wouldn't have thought this would have anything to do with the rod needing adjusting, but I may be wrong. Depending on your Fender, it may have the added carbon support rods, reducing the need for (and strain onto) the truss rod anyway.
Elite and Ultra. What's next Super and Premium... So uninspiring, why not use names of California places, would be way cooler.
Yes, it does. Conversely my Stingray has the wax/oil neck finish, and it's flamed maple too, both of which make it less stable. So my point is that the wheel is handy on the Stingray but not missed on the Fender.

The title of this thread implies that something called "Ulta" already exists- which it does not. You can't go by what some random dealer or salesperson says or thinks he or she knows. This is how falsehoods spread.
To get what I wanted ,I bought used and had it refinished . Still came in well under the now discounted price of the new ones.
Was the same for me on my Stingray Special , even with the roasted neck.
My Elite Jazz V hasn’t needed adjusting yet. I see no issues with Fenders wheel adjustment design.
@Smooth_bass88, I can't swear to it that my original post is true. That's why I was asking if anyone else had heard this. The dealer in question here seems pretty plugged in, but you're right that we won't know for sure until Fender makes an announcement.
I will point out that "Ultra" was the name for Fender's highest level production instruments from 1990-98, so it wouldn't be out of character for them to revive the name.

This is one of the reasons I don’t buy fenders, it’s impossible to figure out their product line.
Yep, I don't buy new Fenders anymore...just for this reason alone. Let someone else pay the inflated prices for re-branded instruments will minimal improvements. Na, I'll wait 3-4 years...
Or they might get sponsored by Michelob at one point who knows...I can't wait until Fender replaces this latest up-and-coming Ultra series with the Ne Plus Ultra series. Where could they go from there?
