Hey, whats happeninn'? I knew Id run into someone sooner or later. There should be a nice red ML to add to this thread soon, I think. Did you pick one up?
No, I did not get in on that run because it is too close to the DOA ML (just a different color), and it has passive pups, yet it cost more than the DOA.
It must be the dealer setting his price a little too high because that run is a set neck, 4 string, passive.............and it came in around the same price as this years DOA bass which is a neck through, 5 string, active bass. - Go figure !

On an Edge 5 fretless, the TI flats have a great tone that cuts through a band setting very well. I can EQ up just about anything from old-school thump to more bridge-pickup mwah sounds. The strings are about 6 months old and have lot a little bit of their top-end zing but have settled in to a very nice feel. I've read lots about the low string tension on TI Flats, but haven't found it to be an issue. Maybe the 35" scale helps out in that respect...

Yeah, I like the ML DOA in green far better than the red but, it will be interesting to see what Dean will do with the top. I hope its a nice bass.

There has been some rumor that Dean may branch into US made basses. I have also heard that they may bring USA production back "in-house" in Tampa.
We will have to see what the future brings, because I am sure tired of having nothing but Black colored imports to choose from
I have 2 edge 5ers, one a fretless (black/ghost silver), one a fretted (candy apple red), both are amazing and im looking to put some barts in them if I can find some to fit.
I have 2 Dean basses. I have a Metalman V bass with active electronics and a Nuclear Green Zone bass. Both are nice and very inexpensive.

I agree, the black thing is pretty boring after a while. Dean makes some of the nicest guitar tops and colors available. Its a real shame they dont offer their bass community the same options. But, its been said before on that forum, Deans a guitar company and thats where they make their money. Its pretty bad when they try to push the "Dimebag"thing on us bassist. I loved Pantera but for Gods sake, Dean needs to try another route.
Here's mine - pictures and in action - I find it to be an outstanding bass - not just good for the price, but a great player that fits well into just about every playing situation imaginable. Very light (a little over 7 pounds) and a fantastic neck profile - one of my favorite.

man, im hoping to get a fretlless dean sometime later. Hopefully with more than 4 strings. I only make bout 1040 bucks a year. I aint getting paid gigs yet. But when i have money im definately gonna get another dean

I tried this on the advice of Bassic83 who is also a member of this forum, and has actually been lucky enough to have met Brian Bromberg and played some of his own basses.
If you think the B2 sounds good with Dean pickups, wait till you hear it with the Barts!
I think that Dean basses are highly underrated.
I'd love to pick up an Edge Hammer 10X (doubled 5-string) one day. Sure it's a one-trick pony, but what a kick that pony has!
next week im going to get a dean as well...

As of 5p today I'm in the club (though at the bottom end). Picked up a V classic at GC for $99. Had to do a double on the price. Figured can't go wrong for that price........
Edge 4 Improv: czech made (same factory as spectors) neck thru, emg pups, schaller tuners, brass nut, classy headstock and 12th fret inlays, excellent bass! good value too at $750 new w/ hsc.
I've got an Edge-1 with passive EMG soaps. Very basic and simple, but it has a great feeling neck and is very comfortable to play. It weighs about half of what my G&L does. It's one of my favorites. It will never leave my stash.
Lots of these board snobs (you know who you are) turn up their noses if your bass didn't cost $3k and wasn't surgically created by some luthier in his lab. This bass just sounds great, and that's enough for me.
