Dean Club!!!

I reached out to @B-Mac, the admin here, via the other website he's on, and once we figure out the future of the group, you'll get a number. I believe that you are not the only person here who doesn't have a number. @Jimbowhit7, @58kites and @Ric5, you were here before me. Any input on current affairs? I'm sure there are other active members who have been here longer than I, but those 3 are the ones I remembered of the top of my head.

Sorry I know nothing about what is going on here … I used to own 2 Dean basses … right now zero

I didn't know you sold them. I only reached out because you used to be fairly active here. Just trying to sort out some management issues. Since @B-Mac is no longer here for the time being.

hey dean basses are cool … they do 4, 5, 6, 8, 10, and 12 string basses … lots of varieties and models and good prices … I say who needs numbers … just keep posting

NBD and Number please!

I found this pristine, never gigged, never really played early Dean Jeff Berlin (European Custom) in Transparent Amber. I think someone bought it, put it in a case, and never played it. The satin finish on the neck is still satin (no gloss from wear), the pickups have no "smoothing" from finger wear, all of the hardware has a patina and the finish is a flawless gloss. I've seen more worn looking basses hanging new on the rack at GC! It does have one "incorrect" knob - perhaps the original fell off and was lost, and was replaced with whatever fit on the post, idk.

The serial number is 94693. The headstock has the *very* slight tilt back, and the tuners are offset. The "Dean" logo is squarely between the tuners, so I'm guessing this is somewhere between '99 and '01. Can any experts confirm?

Great find. I don't think I've seen a Euro Berlin before. You can also email JB to see if he recalls the years these were made. A quick look on Google Images seems to show those knobs are probably correct.

The volume knob has a set screw, and no patina, and the other two screws are press on and heavily patina-ed, but yeah, it's quite rare. I think '99 was the first year . . .

Great bass! As for the number, were still working on getting that figured out. The 'admin' of the group got kicked, but I made contact with him and he's working on trying to come back. If I get a free moment, I'll try to sort the numbers out and issue new ones myself. You an at least 1 other person if not more are waiting for numbers.

Sure, I'll take one :-)

I will be working on the numbers. In the meantime I have information from B-Mac regarding questions about various models.

@Darth_Linux : The Jeff Berlin Dean was made in '99. All Elliot Rubinson era deans that start with 7, 8 or 9 are ‘97, ‘98 and ‘99, respectively

@Switched :
Dean made Jeff Berlin signature basses from 1999 to 2013
Berlin switched to Cort after that because he was not happy with the Chinese
active versions of this bass.
They made them in the USA shop, in Czech Republic, in Korea and lastly in China.
B-Mac owns:

a Czech version

a Chinese Active version

and a USA patchwork version

only three were ever made of the patchwork version

He says they were all posted here on TalkBass
