I don't think that serial number means 2007. I'm certain they were out of production by around 2002 as that was when I joined the Dean family and they weren't being made then.
Edit to add: I believe the only Dean serial numbers that show the year are on the USA made instruments, and that is stamped into the wood.
My new old Trans Red Razor NT arrived and it is super clean but needs a set up and adjustments as I'm getting random fret buzz as well as an annoying rattle/vibration from my bridge area , First off I'd say a truss rod tweak for starters and a check of the bridge for any loose adjustment screws , etc, Bass sounds good and has lots of sustain , I immediately noticed the difference of the neck through design , I hear the notes but also "feel" the notes too , Still not sure it's a keeper and have a few more days ( musicgoround 7day return policy) to decide if I want to spend the $ to have it professionally dialed in or return it , This was another of my many impulse buys, In the last few months I got back into playing the bass as well as going nuts buying up bass guitars , So I really got my hands full for a whileI think you are going to like the razor nt best of all over time...
Would like to hear your impressions once you get into it.
Yes, previously I had the impression that yuo have a few basses already. And noted your smarts when it comes to knowing what works, what you like. What I was getting at in my comment was the shape. I had been used to fenders and rhapsodies. The razor was a noticable slim body with which to sling around. When I play, I do a lot of moving around and there was a particular time when I was impressed with the sleek razor. So that always stuck with me. My 4 string is just right set up right and new old stock. Happy with that. My 5 string was set up by a tech, but not to my liking, so I lowered the action. Neither is a fret buzzer. I've set the 5er to EADGC and that's working well.My new old Trans Red Razor NT arrived and it is super clean but needs a set up and adjustments as I'm getting random fret buzz as well as an annoying rattle/vibration from my bridge area , First off I'd say a truss rod tweak for starters and a check of the bridge for any loose adjustment screws , etc, Bass sounds good and has lots of sustain , I immediately noticed the difference of the neck through design , I hear the notes but also "feel" the notes too , Still not sure it's a keeper and have a few more days ( musicgoround 7day return policy) to decide if I want to spend the $ to have it professionally dialed in or return it , This was another of my many impulse buys, In the last few months I got back into playing the bass as well as going nuts buying up bass guitars , So I really got my hands full for a while
I agree it is one very sleek slimmed down shape that is light and easy to handle , like no other bass for sure , Jury still out if it's a keeper for me - see yaYes, previously I had the impression that yuo have a few basses already. It does sound like it was going to be a money pit of sorts. Don’t blame ya. Sure was pretty though...update , I've returned the recently purchased Trans Red quilt top Razor NT 4 string (seen in post#1967) back to musicgoround online in wilkes barre pa , I felt it needed more than just a truss rod adjustment and maybe a spot fret leveling , etc @ random fret buzz along with some strange bridge/saddle rattles + vibration, More than I wanted to undertake , So if you are looking for a Razor NT knowing it'll need attention it'll probably be reposted online sometime after the 16th when it should arrive , Just thought I'd share that (note: I am not selling this just alerting the group of it's upcoming availability and am not affiliated with musicgoround)
Still hot lookin' though!Sorry, didn't post pics.
It's pretty, but not as pretty as the amber one Templar has.
For some reason the red trans finish is not as transparent as the amber so the figuring on the maple top (and the rest of it) does not show through as clearly as on the amber one.
