$200 plus a HSC???????????? Man, you got a deal! Looks to be in great shape!!!!NBD!!
I now officially have 2 Dean basses. After going to look at the Rhapsody Q4 today, there was no way I was leaving without it. The thing doesn't have a mark on it (though it is in need of a good cleaning of the fret board and body) and is dead quiet hooked up to my amps. It's even still got the protective plastic on the rear cover. Only issue (other than it being strung incorrectly, see the last pic below) is the bottom strap button has a screw hole that's stripped out. Toothpick and some wood glue the best way to fix that? Well, now to remove the strings, give it a good cleaning, maybe hit it with a little carnauba wax, and restring it. I got the whole thing, bass, case, strings, and all for $200. I'm a happy camper.

So, has it settled in ? Really hope so!Thanks B-Mac! First quarter turn CCW got me most of the way there. Letting that settle and give it one more nudge.

From a Zone to a Rhapsody Q4 is quite a jump. Please let us know how you like it after you get it situated. You really did get a good deal. Was that a private sale like through CL or a Pawnshop? You don't see these for $200. There's a few on eBay, Reverb, etc. and they're all over $400 with no case.
You certainly can! Coming up in a jiffy!View attachment 5257843
This bass is, I believe, a 2A Demonator Metalman, and was a $60 Craigslist purchase. It had a dead preamp and the seller made it real clear he was keeping the skull control knobs. I rewired it passive with a volume, blend and two “producer knobs” so I guess now it is actually a 2P Demonator Metalman.
I’ve really grown to like it; it has a great neck shape and a smooth thick tone and feels nice with .045-.100 D’Addario chrome flatwounds on it.
Can I get a number?

Wow, you had an M/L Vintage! They’re hard to come by. Mostly see one pup M/L Metalman.Man, that brings back memories! The ML bass with the P/J configuration was the first bass I ever owned. Didn't know a thing about playing bass back then and didn't care too much for it, either. Bought it for the looks only, and when a poti died a few months later, I sold it again because it was so damn impractical. Replaced it with another Dean, an Edge Hammer 5, which I still have, play and love.
What would I give to have that ML back, though!
Those Czech made Deans are sweet!I have a 1974 Fender P I bought brand new. Still have it.
The 2nd bass I bought was a blue Dean Edge 4 Improv made in the Czech Republic.
At one point I owned around 13 basses, but now own "only" 4--and the Dean is one of them!
