I was cruising the dean guitars site, like I usually do, and I found this. I know its a guitar, but I dont know where else to go. So help me out please, will this keep happening? I just never knew Dean guitars would go down this road. Normally Dean guitars would make their own design of guitars, but not this time. I honestly dont know what to think.

This is horrible. they have never been known to make a telecaster like model. I loved them so much because they were so different and unique. they just stood out for better or worse. Now they just look like every other guitar/bass company.

yeah man I know explorers and flying v's arent their original work but, they took them and morphed it to their own view. This new tele knock off looks just like a tele. No difference at all, minus headstock. I want a caddilac to lol.

I just hope they can pull themeselves out of this rut. I love the look of a nice tele but not when anyone else other than Fender trys to take it and steal the look. I love Deans but not this time. Looks like they just took a tele and put their name on it.

Took another look at the page and found this:

Well, Dean have made that Strat copy for years, they also made the Tele copy in the 80s, but on the up side, they're now making USA basses & are opening the custom shop to bass players, I'm just waiting on my design getting priced up.
But Dean aren't just for big pointy guitars & those two are the very basic entry level models, so it's all ok.

Opening up the custom shop to all is just plain smart! I wish all manufacturers would do so, and with their entire line! Any bass, any color and any neck and any electronics as long as it is in their existing line up and otherwise fits that body.

:bassist:

As to the Fedner copies, I also have to wonder why...

I also wonder if they are gonna get pranged over the headstock?

With the custom shop, it really is custom, the one I'm waiting for is to the following spec:
USA Custom Deceiver Bass
Flat Top
Mahogany Body w/ Walnut Top
Neck: Bubinga / Purple Heart 5 piece neck
Fretboard: Wenge
34” Scale
22 Frets
Neck Shape: Vintage C
Pickups: Musicman Style humbucker bridge / Jazz style pickup neck
Electronics: Bartolini NTMB 3 band preamp
Binding: None on body, headstock or neck
Inlays: Abalone Diamonds
Finish: Natural Oil Finish everywhere

Also, my fellow Demonator user, the Spire bass is a custom shop, that isn't looking to be made a production model at any point soon.

Well, I have my doubts that it'll be made a production model at any point soon, at the soonest it'll be next Winter NAAM. Along with USA production models & maybe afew sig models (potentialy a Chuck Goff sig Edge & a dUg Pinnick Hardtail). But for now, I'll be happy to get a price on my Deciever & to see one of the Jeff Berlin USAs in person
