Dean Q4 w/Bartolinis, $132.99 84% Off

I decided to get rid of mine. Not because I`m disappointed with it; it was a great deal ! I just don`t care for the skinny neck. Stopped in a pawn shop that`s had an overpriced 84 Japanese Fender P. They`ve had it for going on two years (along with a whole rack of other dusty gear), and it`s, IMO, waaay overpriced ( $550). Talked to the old guy there and proposed an even swap. I pointed out to him that he`d been sitting on the P for two years, and that he might be able to move the Dean instead. He agreed and told me to bring it in. Came back with it and he defers to the young bumpkin, says he "handles the guitars here". Young guy says " Oh no, I can`t do that. I can sell that Fender easier than a Dean." I point out to him how long he`s had the P. He got smart and said it "was a different one that looked the same". I pointed out that I checked the serial # - busted. He admitted to it, then got all pissy. I asked him if he was familiar with Bartolini pups ? He said no, and went on to say that if "this was one of those two-thousand dollar Dean basses (:confused:)then we`d trade". Oh, I guess so ! Otherwise, I was crazy to even suggest what I did. He had "a genuine Fender bass", at a great price, to boot. According to him, vintage Japanese and American Fenders are priced the same. I looked over at the old guy, and he just sheepishly said " I trust him with the guitars". I smiled and pointed out that maybe that`s why their shop can`t seem to move any. Can`t say I blame `em for declining the trade, it was just the young guy`s reasoning and douchey attitude that made the whole thing stink. Oh well, just an amusing addenum to my Dean saga !

Yeah, I think I would've set him straight too. I remember a few years back when I was wanting an Amer. Dlx. fender Strat at a pawn shop. They actually had several. I tried to get the guy to make me a deal on one and he refused. Guess what? About two weeks later they marked them down about 40% and were sold out quickly. Didn't find out about that until a couple of weeks after the sale. Pawn shops don't always have the sharpest knife in the drawer running their music department.

shoot, one up the street has a schecter Omen 4 marked at $899.99. An OLP 5 marked at $799.99. A DeArmond Starfire Special marked at $999.99. I walk in and gasp at the Omen, and a guy comes over, "what's up man?" I told him, "These things are only $349.99 NEW man." He says, "Well then I guess you're not going to buy anything then are you?"


they do have an Epiphone Explorer guitar for $249.99 that I kind of want though.
