Decent Inexpensive Mic?

Here's the deal: My buddy, Danilo (Danny), is going back to visit his extended family in En Salvador the end of next week. His cousin needs a vocal mic and cable...maybe 2...for his evangelical choir. Naturally, Danny comes to me for advice as he's on the hook for snagging something locally within the next week. We're in luck as we have a Guitar Center and walterw's Alpha Music locally. Keep in mind that this going to Salvador where even the electricity is iffy so we don't need anything top-shelf....these folks will be grateful for anything.

I'd appreciate any guidance you can provide! Thanks!

Just about any mic that guitar center or other stores stock should be ok. The Shure PGA48 is probably a good place to start at $34. Or this CAD three pack. Invalid Link Removed for $49.

Sm-58 isn't the cheapest, but it's the best live vocal mic for my purposes. Good tradeoff between tone and ease of use. There are better sounding mics but I have a really difficult time using them because they require better mic technique than I'm willing to use :D

Thanks for all your help! I've been throwing mic choices...and prices...at Danny for the past couple of days. I'm hoping he'll make a decision shortly but, OTOH, I'm starting to get the impression he doesn't like his cousin that much.

Interesting sidenote: Salvadoran nationals returning to their homeland are easily recognized as being "Americanized" (healthy, well-nourished, etc) and quickly targeted by the criminal element.
