decisions, decisions....

I've got a 6-string fretless Carvin LB76 on layaway and am close to having it paid off. My fretted bass is a USA G&L 2500 and I like it a lot - for most things...

A friend of mine has a mint fretted LB76 that he wants to trade for an ABG. If I had an ABG, I'd do it in a heartbeat. I don't, so I'm considering selling the G&L so I can get the LB76. I'd really like to have both, but it's not in the budget right now. I'm borrowing the Carvin right now and really like it for the stuff my band is doing. It's a little tight for slapping, but I don't slap very much anyway, and for everything else I like it better than the G&L.

It'd make the transitions to the fretless easier since it's the same feeling neck, same electronics, etc...

Anyway, I'm seriously considering it, but I'm not sure at this point. Help a brother out. What would you do?

Ok, so you're getting the fretless Carvin no matter what right???

So the decision is to basically trade the G&L for the Fretted Carvin?

I would say do it Bro... You yourself said you liked the Carvin better than the G&L for most things... Sounds like you know what to do.

You can't go wrong with the LB76... I had one for 7 years and it was my main bass - it was killer! I sold it this year cause I wanted a 5 and couldn't afford to keep both.

Good luck Bro!

I'm emotionally attached to the G&L :) I've had for almost 10 years and have done a lot of gigs with it. It's got a couple of nasty scars from falling down a couple of times. I don't want to get rid of it, but I do want the fretted Carvin 6. I'm trying to talk myself into it. Or maybe I'm trying to talk myself out of it...

I hear ya Bro... I myself had to make that decision when I got rid of the Carvin... What sealed it for me was the fact that I wasn't using the high C enough - so that's what I tell myself, but I miss the bass sometimes.

Here's a pic of mine just to share:
