no, i can't explain it, but for me, the "shift" occurred in the 70's (my 20's) when i started playing with badasses. and yes: badasses are dangerous.

People who describe themselves as "Badass" usually do so in order to describe their playing as better than they really are. Players who are truly "Badass" do not have to describe their playing that way. They are good enough and humble enough to let other people do that for them.

In his new book, Geddy Lee says he put these on all his Rickenbackers (if I recall) to improve sustain. Also started putting them on Fenders then determined they didn’t need them.
