delano P pickups??? any good???

was wondering about the sound i like the fat poles...wondering if it makes it drop off when the string vibrates past the pole???

No drop offs for me. And there is a tremendous punch. I was enjoying the Dimarzio Split P pickup before trying this. It's not a P bass sound, quite different. This is the first time I've ever turned the tone control down a tad, (but I use a 500K volume pot, I might try a 250 to see if I end up not turning tone control down)

I had a few minutes today, so I recorded a small soundclip. It's a passive bass into a cheapie clean preamp (Studio Projects VTB-1) into an M-Audio Delta 1010. No eq, compressor, etc. so it sounds a bit harsh, it's definitely more rounded through an amp or w/plugins on the computer. I'd say they have a bit more punch than the average P. Here's the bass showing which Delano P pickup, and a small soundclip

Delano = excellence in my book. I took the plunge last year by having Mike Dolan swap my Bartolinis for FE series Delanos in my Kinal:

I totally dig the P and tend to favor it in the blend. That quad-coil kicks out some meaty mids too. I just wish this bass didn't weigh 10 lbs (I'm getting wimpy in my middle age ;) ). Kudos once again to Mr. Hart for putting me on to these.

Wow thanks for that clip! GREATLY appreciate it!
What surprised me the most is how darn similar the tone is to my SD 1/4 pounders. Scooped mids and lots of treble. I guess enlarging the pole pieces generally creates this sort of characteristic?

Hmm... I'm either going to get another SD 1/4pounder for my PJ's bridge, or the set of Delano PJ's. $60 vs. over $200. Yikes..........

I know I sound like a stupid whiny little kid, but I'd love to hear ANY more sound clips you guys might have of the pickups... This is such a nerve-wracking decision for me because my whole bass only cost $150!
