Successfully installed the Delano JVMC 4 Fe/M2 (long neck) on my Toby by Tobias/Epiphone Deluxe IV bass. After installation did a quick test to see if soldering and wiring was fine, maybe this weekend I’ll give hours of my time to really understand the pickups and maybe make some demos. Maybe someone would be interesting in hearing these in a “modern” metal context

Delano pickups... Worth the price?

Hi all, in case anybody is interested, I'm selling a custom Delano featuring two JMVC in one housing, for 60s/70s or similar applications https://www.talkbass.com/threads/de...-m2-2023-one-of-a-kind.1647500/#post-28362943
So been over a year since my last post. I can probably share with you guys my experience of the Delano JVMC 4 Fe/M2 pickups.
Bottom line: I love them.
I recorded bass using these pickups for my band's upcoming album. I can share some preview links with you guys (for listening only) if you want.

Off topic question for an old thread…I’m considering getting the Delano SBC 4 HE/S for a tenor bass build. It’s only 2.2” wide at the 24th fret so string to pole alignment is a concern.
Are these pickups made with bars to mitigate the misalignment due to my narrow neck heel? I can’t find pickups with poles that are close enough to align correctly.

I believe that is an EMG style replacement housing and would almost certainly come with blade or bar style magnets as a replacement style. I saw only one reference to a blade magnet specifically, so I expect that it is the common expected style in that shape.

Just installed a new custom Delano double FE/M2 pickup in my Fodera and it's killer. Exactly the same as the one I had on here for sale (now sold!) but slightly smaller/smoother form factor and a three-screw mounting. It's just two FE/M2 jazz pickups in one soapbar housing, selected with the gold on-on-on switch visible in the picture. Sounds absolutely lush. Very high output!
Cool! What are it's dimensions? I can't find any listing on Delano's site, nor can I accurately eyeball it's measurements, but it almost looks like a Bartolini BD shape.

Forgive me for offering a little constructive criticism in regards to the first track, especially since it's already finished ("in the can", for the film geeks out there
), but I feel it should be said. If I were mixing "Submerge", I would've extended the fade-in time of the drums', all while adding a little more of a "distant/ethereal" groove to them, then rolling those effects off over that first minute, as if they're coming closer and getting clearer to the listener amid the all-encompassing soundscape. (I could use all kinds of metaphors; something in the ocean getting closer through the fog...something emerging out of the blackness while you're floating through space...something unseen swimming closer and closer while you're "submerged", etc...etc...)As for when the drums are "full-on and present" from 1:23 and on, they, along with everything else, sound great!
Personally, I love instrumental music, so this very true story definitely applies.Back when I was about 8-years-old or so, I was hanging out with my uncle. He had something jazzy and instrumental playing over his stereo, probably Chuck Mangione or someone like him. He sees me focusing on the music, so he asks, "What do you think of this?" I said, "It's good, but where are the words?" (Like I said, I was only eight!) He responds with a line that forever changed my outlook on music...

Yes, you're correct - it's a BD-sized pickup. The case is actually from their 5-string SBC pickup, but worked perfectly for what I needed. They then put two completely separate JMVC 4 FE/M2 in it.
It's great, because it's three pickups in one - either JMVC 4 FE/M2 by itself, or both in parallel, and the wiring is trivially easy.
