Oh, boy. Played the VTBP-201s from '06-'12, but ditched it due to size & weight w/ poweramp (and Walkabout infatuation). If this really has a slight edge in low and mid ranges vs. the 201s...

Ah, cool, so he'll do it to the older (1.5U) 201, too. Very nice.![]()
It is one of the very early models with the chrome toggle switches and most of the silk-screening has worn off, which gives it an especially cool mojo.
What I learned after speaking to James for half an hour:
1. For the last week, the price on the website was wrong. He's not sure how it happened but the original price is the price it is now.
Off topic, but an Innersound IVP ! One of my favorite preamps.Used one from '79 through 2000.That is very cool. Here's mine (on the bottom). I dig the new form factor a lot, though, so I have a VTBP-M-800D on order with James.

Yes it is. Plus add in whatever the Jenson DI costs. I can't see owning the amp with out a DI.

That preamp was ahead of its time, for sure. I no longer own it, as an interested party made me an offer I could not refuse.
Great preamp, though.
I sure do still love that Aguilar DB659 (if that is the name... always forget the actual name of that one). Best thing Aguilar ever made IMO.... like a more mid even DB750. Wonderful single space bass pre there! Not nearly the EQ power of the 680, but much fatter and warmer and punchier. Love it!
Agreed
I was of the same opinion until I thought it through a bit more... I take my Radial J48 everywhere anyhow so it's nothing for me to simply plug it into the Demeter's pre out jack.

Everything up the middle with samples from each setting of the dark/flat/bright switch would be cool I think.
I'd like to hear the EQ sweep of each knob. Bass and mid at noon, then run the highs from top to bottom. Rinse, repeat.
