Demo videos: must they suck?

Bobby Vega is a great and entertaining player, but I don't like his demo videos because of his unusual style of playing. Especially when he's picking.

Yes....he certainly is unique. I liked the vid because it showed fretless, slap, fingers and pick.

BTW, I don't see you around that much anymore. It is good to see you.

Thanks. I'm actually on here everyday without fail. I just don't post much.

Be happy that someone took the time to go do it.
Especially if its something your interested in.

Better then nothing at all.
A video is a helpful BUT its not the be all end all.

I agree. I think some are outstanding and others fall short. ...still better than nothing. I can also speak first hand that they are very difficult to do well and impossible to do in a way that it doesn't invite criticism.

Yeah, too many of the bass demo videos today are a little too "slaptastic" for my tastes. I do like Juan Alderete's format on Pedals and Effects of looping a bass line and then tweaking with the controls. He can talk a little too much sometimes, though.

The absolute worst are the OD demos for bass. It's like they tweak the knobs in every position except the ones you want to see them perform in. I keep going to the Joyo UD/OCD demos and just going "nope".

BassTheWorld' demo of the OCD led me to buy the Joyo UD. That was the first and only overdrive demo that dialed in a sound I liked and he played it like a bass player. So that was a positive one.
