Describe this playing in 5 words or less....

Im appalled at these comments! I mean everyone has the right to their own opinion but that's THE Evan Brewer! He's definitely had gigs on a legitimate progressive record label. He's not some bedroom player for sure! OP fwiw I think that song is epic, sadly the others on this forum have probably never heard the rest of that song he's playing which is much slower, not slapped, and beautiful. I dont think "just anyone" can play like that either, the guy can play 2 basses at once. Again, everyone is different so maybe the style of music is not their cup of tea but man I hope people arent hating on his talent. One of my favorite bassists for sure. Here is the whole song.

Evan Brewer is a musical talent for sure. But that video just seems like it's him in his bedroom goofing off.

I'm really shocked.

I read the first page or so of responses before I watched the video - I was expecting some E Pentatonic slap funk ********, not something with actual melodic and harmonic content.

Did all of you asking where the emotion and groove are actually make it through the first 10 seconds?

Oh, sorry. My five words:

Doesn't care you're not impressed.

THE Evan Brewer could invent a cancer vaccine and the video in the OP would still be unmusical wankery. I don't know who he is or what else he's done and I'm sure he's just peachy keen but that particular sample of bass playing is garbage IMO.

My comment: "interesting".

In the sense that I understand he has mastered the technical difficulty, but I don't like the way it sounds (both the slap and the incredibly bright sound), and have no ambition to ever play like that.

One of my favorite comments at work is "Just because it's possible to do something doesn't mean that it's a good idea."
