A bajillion or so years ago, my best friend and I had an extended conversation at a party that consisted entirely of Far Side punch lines:
"Birds of prey KNOW they're cool."
"Cheetah wheelies"
"Wagoooooons STAAAAART!" (Non-union wagon masters)
"Beware of Doug."
"Boneless Chicken Ranch"
etc...etc...
But my favorite Far Side of all time isn't actually a Far Side at all. When Gary Larson decided to take a sabbatical for a year or so, another cartoonist did a "Far Side fan's Survival Kit" cartoon. It had paper dolls of several recurring character types in the middle: the waitress, the nerd, a caveman, a scientist of some kind, maybe a cow...And around them were several little square setting that would be familiar: a lab, a deserted island, a living room...You get the idea. Then there were a series of completely lame and forgettable comics that you could actually make with the pictures provided. After the lame attempts it said "And if that doesn't work for you, just be as sick as you possibly can." And then it had my favorite Far Side(-ish) comic ever.
In the background you see Dopey and Doc of the Seven Dwarves leaning together whispering conspiratorially. In the foreground, you see the fattest dwarf you've ever seen. And the caption was "When the dwarves had been reduced from their original fifty to only eight, the other dwarves began to suspect Hungry."
