I like to able to control the sound of my stage rig myself. To be honest with a Genz Benz GBE1200 and two 410 cabs, I usually don't have to use the house mix at all unless it's a really large venue.

Same here. If I'm running the 1200 on top of three 12's, I usually find that the sound guy is putting just a touch of my DI feed to the mains to add some presence, and then playing with a send to the subs to get the bottom feeling right, but my rig is what is projecting the most and providing the majority of the tone. Granted, this is in smaller venues of several hundred people or less. The last big show I played was last year in front of several thousand. It was outdoors, with a massive PA with line arrays hanging, rows of large subs, etc. In that case, stage volume was VERY modest. Totally different approach, but the audience was getting pounded by the PA.
