Diff between SVT II & 2 pro?

From memory (years ago I stupidly sold my 2 non pro and I have played a 2) the nonpro does not have a master volume and the 2 has an extra graphic band. I think perhaps an extra tube in the 2 preamp section. Might be some other minor differences. Tonally I much preferred the 2 nonpro, it was easier to find a sound and was way more like an original SVT than than the 2.That said, I know many people who love their 2s. But for me the 2 nonpro was a great amp, very similarto my current SVT-VR, I wish I had never sold it.

i think the newer Pro model has output protection relays, which can cause reliability
issues IIRC, in addition to a master volume. preamp is a bit different as well i think.

this is all correct.
i actually prefer the non pro by A LOT

the pro has an extra gain stage, so the front end has gain and drive.

the svt 2 is very similar to the original, with regard to the power amp stage. biasing is similar, there is a balance control and a hum control.

the pro has the automatic bias detection circuit, as does the classic, av, and vr. (no hum control or balance)

the pro has speakon output connection

also the pro has effect send /ret in addition to the pre in and out, and there is a slave ouput and a tuner output. There is a footswitch connection. The pro has a level control on the bal. out.

On the pro front panel, there's the gain and drive controls that I mentioned, and a master volume. Switches include pad, mute, ultra high, ultra low, bright and eq in out. Three leds, mute/clip, standby/fault, on. and the eq has an on/clip led.

Pro trannies are different. They are stand ups. they look bigger to me, more laminations. Theres one more tube in the pre, a dc filament power "premium" 12ax7. power tubes have a separate circuit board that has the sockets on it like the cl,av,vr.
