You need an OD that is voiced for distorting lows. Something that doesn't use diodes for clipping. Maybe something using germanium transistors or FETs that saturate.

Do you have any reference to anything that sounds remotely like what you want [clips, vids, hieroglyphs ect] or is this totally unobtainable and in your head ATM

Have you thought about the DHA VT1?
Well, my second clip isn't all that far off.
I can't find a clip exactly like the sound in my head, but a few that are close:
Not quite as gritty as I'm looking for, but basically that super deep tone with just a touch of tubey grit.
i'd suggest a GeminiDrive or something similar with frequency shelving, but alas...![]()
The DHA VT1 functions like a very fat tube preamp. As you start to push it into overdriving, the bottom thickens and expands, and the distortion is greasy and natural, not harsh, buzzy, or brittle like a silicon od. I don't have a MF101, but I can rig up something with the POG2, BassIQ, and DHA to give you an idea if you'd like.
Yeah, I'd really appreciate that. I believe the Bass IQ can be used like a low pass filter with the sensitivity rolled down. If so, I'd love to hear clips with the DHA before and/or after it.
Perhaps an OD with a clean blend is the answer.
Any other thoughts?
I've got a Line 6 Otto Filter which has a LPF so when I record the Hyperdrive clips (tomorrow) do you want to hear the two together?
as I am sitting here at a pork roast, I just wanted to reemphasize the Pork Loin again.![]()
My go-to Dub sound ATM it a DE KP through a old Hogsfoot.
I'm with ya.
Now, which ODs would fit the bill?
Clips
Jazz bass with flats: first clean then KP then KP and Hogsfoot [what EHX is now calling the mole]

Keep in mind these are direct recordings so they sound a little harsher then through a amp.
