Different kind of overdrive request

Do you have any reference to anything that sounds remotely like what you want [clips, vids, hieroglyphs ect] or is this totally unobtainable and in your head ATM

Well, my second clip isn't all that far off.

I can't find a clip exactly like the sound in my head, but a few that are close:

Not quite as gritty as I'm looking for, but basically that super deep tone with just a touch of tubey grit.

Hmm ever tried overdriving a comp. All those sound like channel strip and or old tube comps being over loaded to me.

Actually what I'm using gets pretty close to that. One thing to try, try the dirt first then filter.

The DHA VT1 functions like a very fat tube preamp. As you start to push it into overdriving, the bottom thickens and expands, and the distortion is greasy and natural, not harsh, buzzy, or brittle like a silicon od. I don't have a MF101, but I can rig up something with the POG2, BassIQ, and DHA to give you an idea if you'd like.

i'd suggest a GeminiDrive or something similar with frequency shelving, but alas... :(

I was going to say the same thing.

When I get my cab I'll record a clip of it, but I found kinda what your looking to do I could get with my SABD and Gemini Combo. It's not as deep as a filter in the mix could get, but pretty close. I had the gain fairly low on the gemini, and the gemini switch down, which to me kinda acts like a dirty bass boost. I had the SABD set to be as clean as possible.

+1 The DHA works as well. To me it was instant fat, not tube distortion and rage, but warmness and fat.
