Hi, a while ago I added a jazz pickup to my Pbass. I spent quite a while getting the placement right, so as to get the tone I wanted. Now, after getting used to it, something is bothering me. The tone on the E and A strings is fantastic, like exactly what I'm looking for. However, the tone on the D and G strings is quite a bit more nasally. It's still very usable, and sounds good in some circumstances, but I'd prefer it were different. I put this down to the standard P pickup, since, being split in the middle, the distance between the 2 pickups would be different for EA than for DG. Is this a common problem with PJs?

Different tone on E/A than D/G with PJ

Listen to some basses with a reverse P/J configuration. I love that tone, makes the E and A string sound tighter and the D and G have more body.

It sounds like the D/G coil is out of phase with the Jazz pickup. Do those two strings only sound that way with both pickups on?
If that's the case, swap the two wires on the D/G coil.
If that's the case, swap the two wires on the D/G coil.
