Digitech bass whammy

I only got mine a few months ago for 525 and now on ebay they are BIN for 625.

If you are going to buy one just keep in mind it's not an intelligent buy, their resale value might be high but break it and ur ****ed. Otherwise, I think that if you want the tone of a bass whammy buy the sucker, bite that bullet.

I'm probably going to get flamed for this...but to pay that much for one of these is insane...I have never thought a lot of Digitech effects to start with, finding them for the most part, to be very unatural sounding, with less than steller build quality...I can't see paying that much for a whammy pedal.

OK, now having said that, I've never used the Bass whammy...so my comments are more about the manufacturer and my history with them than anything else. So please go easy on me...lol

It's alright, I agree with you.

I can't see myself paying $200 for a whammy let alone $500+

now if I managed to find someone selling a bass whammy for less than $300, I would probably buy it, try it out, and sell it to make a great profit

I had a bass whammy for a while like 8 years ago. I didn't think to highly of it so it sat in a box. The one time I needed it in the studio I used a Whammy II(the guitar one) I actully preferred it's tracking, not to mention couldn't believe it worked.

I thought in both instances that the tracking was lagging, and the overall effected sound was harsh. I could never see paying what they are going for.

No it isn't the idea of it is that it doubles the input signal and slightly detunes it to sound like a second guitar playing. The result is a chorus effect. At the time it trumped every chorus effect I had. You can control how deep the detune is with the pedal that is why I said that. I know it isn't a chorus.

I am selling my bass whammy. This is not because I am unhappy with it, I just am not using it enough to justify what I could sell it for. I am recording a demo of it tonight, quick and dirty, but I will post it as soon as I can. The only caveat is that it is in need of a recalibration. It still tracks beautifully, but it does not begin sweeping until I am halfway between toe up and toe down. Please PM with an offer if you are interested, I would prefer not to put it on eBay, but I will if I don't get any good offers here.

Well i <3 my bass whammy. It sounds great and was worth the 250$ i paid for it.

Btw the Bass whammy was designed by a really good engineer but soon left digitech after they made the bass whammy. I don't think it's fair to say the bass whammy sucks only because you know the gist of Digitech products suck. The bass whammy is definately their best pedal ever made.

Again, they aren't worth 500 bucks, however if you know you like the tone and the sound/tracking of the bass whammy you aren't going to get anything like it anywhere else anytime soon, and you're selling yourself short to get a Whammy IV or something like that. Get the real deal, bite the bullet, the resale value looks good.
