I actually don't plan on using it for tool at all. I already mentioned some cool tricks you can do with a whammy a page or so back. Ive used the whammy IV in the past but never owned the original bass whammy. One of the reasons I'm going from the IV to the bass whammy is tone suck.
To be completely honest the main setting that sold me on it is the 4th down setting.I play in a band where the guitars are tuned down to c# standard or drop b depending on the song. I've always tuned every bass I've owned to forths. I've used eadg, beadg, eadgc, f#bead, f#beadgc, and beadgcf. So shifting a forth up or down just makes sense to me. With my 7 I'm hoping to tune back up to beadgcf and just use the whammy live to hit the few notes below B i hit on a few songs. It would save me a tone of money on low f# strings. I really think ill use it the most with my fretless jazz to shift down to bead here and there. In the video that pedals and effects did it actually sounds surprisingly unaffected shifting from e to low b IMO it sounds good enough at least for live use.
