Does anyone else notice how a lot of old punk rock stars seem to have a depressing world view?

I almost want to tell them to grow up. Get a haircut. Shave. Go to business college. Read Dale Carnegie - How to win friends and influence people. Just say no to drugs.

The only people who ever thought you were cool are people you wouldn't want to know anyway.

Maybe that's a little drastic. But some of these people just need to grow up.

Punk Rockers are notorious for telling the truth about issues. No one wants to hear the truth about the state of the world. Watch Johnny Rotten interviews. We all know the world view right now isn't very optimistic. Between Covid and pollution, the world view doesn't stand a chance.

There are literally no examples or specifics in this post. It is also a sweeping generalization. Not all people into hardcore or punk are the same. Maybe you should tell Professor Bondi or Graffin to go get a job? It seems like you have some story to tell that you wanna get off your chest about some nebulous personal connection, spill the beans....

Next time, possibly have FEWER examples, and make sure to indict an entire genre again. It's so helpful.

I can think of several "aging punk rockers" off the top of my head who are still an inspiration to me and many others.

Sid & Nancy are not monolithic ambassadors of punk. If anything they are seen as jokes or warnings of how not to be. Sort of like GG Allin.

Listen to a band like Bad Religion and perhaps get a better understanding of the genre.
