With the swirls it was getting a nightmare trying to keep up with so many basses. Even though I will miss some of the colors, I think it was something that needed to happen. The sheer number of 4 and 5 strings, swirl and non-swirl were just not as practical. Hopefully there will be occasional special runs. Like that RED SWIRL. I am glad I managed to get in on some of the last ones as I absolutely love that color.

Absolutely. I can still admire mono-scale basses, but will never own another.

The swirls were a definite home run. We have moved many of them and still have about a 4:1 demand of swirl versus solid.

I bought my first Dingwall (a new AB-1) in December of 2003 for $1200...
A couple years later, I bought a used Z2 for $1300 as a "backup" (it quickly became #1)
A few years later, I traded that Z2 for a newer AB2.

When I hit "a dry patch", I sold the AB1 for $1600-$1700, and eventually sold the AB2 for $2400...

Once finances picked up a bit, I picked up a nice AB1.5 for $2100.
Eventually decided that I preferred 4 string and sold the AB1.5 for a small profit.
Took the proceeds and bought a Z2 4-string, and that's my huckleberry...

That’s what pushes me to consider a custom Z...I like my Chinese model as much as my Wal...what does that say about a custom Canadian model. Can you order straight through their site? I don’t have a dealer too close to me. I just emailed them for a price list.

It may make people cry to know I paid $2k for my Voodoo Prima, which is one of the first production run of Dingwall basses a couple years ago.

Ok, it’s confession time. I’ve strayed. Temptation kept whispering in my mind. I resisted for years, but I kept hearing it, over and over, “Cirrus”.

And I’m like, “A PEAVEY?!!! Get back devil, that’s just crazy talk!”

“Cirrus, cirrus, Cirrrrrruuuusssss, ...”

What can I say, I’m a sucker for redheads, I mean redwood. Long skinny red...

Any way, these things are seriously undervalued on the used market.

So, a mint 1998, with case, case candy, and a couple nice Peavey hats (sealed the deal) flame redwood, alder body, neckthrough, Cirrus four string found its way to the house. It was like it had been in a time capsule. Perfect.

It’s only been a month, but I’m pretty pleased. I set it up with rounds. It’s super hot active pickups and preamp. A total departure from the Super P’s.

A torrid affair. If I close my eyes it feels like an AB. So sleek and sexy.
