I see I am not the only one who hates an open-style bridge. I tend to just hold the strings tight to keep them in place but I might try the clamp technique in the future.

Hmm... the open bridge is not a problem for me - I love the ease of string changing. I wind the string onto the post until I can slip the ball end into the bridge, then keep tension on the string with my right hand while winding the key with my left.

I don’t hate it, I love how quick it makes taking strings off and putting them on once a set has been mounted. I’m fairly neurotic about how the windings look on the tuners, so I prefer to have the left hand for winding the tuner, right hand holding the string closer to the nut than the bridge, so the clamp helps keep the ball end from getting squirrelly.

Bass -> Darkglass Super Symmetry compressor (mild compression) -> Apogee Jam -> GarageBand. No EQ, effects or post processing of any kind, just the pure bass tone.

I put in an order for a custom Super J (18 months I guess...), but ordered this Dingwall ABI 5/3 from Bass Directs stock today drool

Dude! That's so sweet! I'm about 3 months into my 18 month wait for all my ABZ's, so I feel ya'. Did I see you say that Bass Direct is installing the DGTC? How much are they charging for that?

Thanks! They work just fine on my Mac (Chrome) and Samsung Galaxy S8 (also Chrome). Good to know you can listen to the clips.

Thanks. Like I said, only slight compression applied. No post processing. I can already tell this bass will respond well with EQ.

I didn't think this wait was gonna get this hard, lol! I have phenomenal basses to play now, but it's getting harder to not be anxious after seeing all of the awesome Dingwalls you guys have. I may hafta break down and buy an NG-3 or a used ABZ to tied me over until mine show up...sometime late next year.
