Does the AO 900 incorporate the Darkglass suite software with the cab emulations and the comp modeling?

I’m excited to try the distortion side of the AOU as a clean boost, that’s a really cool idea. The harmonic richness of the AOU is super cool.
Unfortunately I failed to ask that question, and didn't peek at the rear panel.
But it does have a compression knob right on the front panel, which made a vast difference as it was adjusted across its range.

I’m itching to try the hyper luminal, but they are scarce as hen’s teeth on the used market. I take that as a good sign with pedals, that there’s not many used for sale. Heck, a 15-20% special would get me to move.

It’s nice to anticipate new emulations from Darkglass with the AOU. Kind of a constant freshening up of sounds. I have the Nolly cab settings in there now.

They promise the same for the hyper luminal, more models as time goes on.

Meanwhile, I’m the patient hunter. Content with my Ovnilab Smoothie.

Eyeing the four string NG-2’s, as well.

Edit: Well, I shouldn’t have gone to Darkglass site. Now I want an AO900 and footswitch.... stores up to three cab emulations and allows parameters to be sculpted with the Darkglass suite, including comp settings. Darn it, this feels like gas. Going for a hike to cool off.

I’ll take that one. Please!

I inquired. It is already going to a dealer in Japan, along with just about all the others that were at the show. No idea if it is already sold to an end customer or not.
I like to go through Japanese music stores' inventory listings often. I will keep an eye out for the gold D-Bird 5 and post the link here if/when I see it appear.

Understood. One thing that I might have not thought to try was to turn the distortion circuit on but with the Drive at zero. Tommi show me that trick, it made a massive difference in adding heft (balls? don't know the right word for it) to the tone. Don't know how else to explain it. It's a similar sort of strength across a broad range of the upper lows and low mids that the X7 also has. After seeing your post, I am thinking that an X7 in front of this thing would be a pretty killer combo. Of course, certainly, adding adding the X7 distortion circuit inside the box following the AOU distortion circuit, and making them independently accessible, would be just killer. 2020 NAMM maybe?
How does it compare with the Berg 1200 watt amp for "heft" as well as tone? Or have you made it over there yet?

Sheldon had the Berg Forte in his booth, but it was a smaller cab (210 I think, down on the floor, vs. 410 on the DG, sitting on top of an empty 410 cab. ) So totally not a fair comparison at all. Physics of the spaces were also very different, so I am not going to be able to make any conclusions. I did hear someone else playing the Berg at the Berg booth, and it sounded thin, but he was playing VERY softly and on a 4-string, and I was 8 ft away, so that piece of data is also useless.

Yeah, exactly! I played it for about 30 mins. It totally kills! It made the $300 Ibanez demo bass sound freaking amazing through the 4x10 cab. It was not long before an audience started to build up as I was playing it. Should be available in March for about $1,100. It's going to be an extremely hot seller, no doubt about that!
Here is Tommi, the amazing genius who designed both the Alpha Omega and X7 distortion circuits!

I'd kill for the AOU and/or the X7 modeling for my Helix! I do have the B7K Ultra though.

Thanks. Yes, very difficult to say; any real test would be with same cab and same bass in same place. I cant hear anything at all at NAMM anyway as far as evaluations go. Also whether it was vented box versus sealed box. Theoretically, the 1200 watt amp with the newer module should totally outperform the 800 watt module and I like the LP & HP adjustable filter. I will be testing both amps as soon as they ship. I have already ordered the Berg 1200 Forte for myself, as it was about time for me to upgrade, but the DG amps are interesting as well.

You have any examples of this. I have the X, not the X7, but I imagine I should be able to use most of the settings. I'm not even sure how this works with the drive all the way down!

It's the M900v2, has the b7k + VMT modes like the M900 but moves to a detailed eq, adds cabinet IR and has a compressor on board. It's a really really nice looking amp, although I'm still using my Glock in preference to my M900 at the moment.

They do have another amp which I did not try which I believe has the B7K and Vintage Ultra circuits in it. It is silver instead of gunmetal gray.

Sorry I don't know the details, but they all use the same 900 watt Ice PA section.

I wish they had of combined the two circuits into one amp. One thing we saw was the stunning difference in control readability of the Medusa dark amp version versus the silver version.
