I think it looks and sounds absolutely amazing. Fan is 33-35", so around Super territory. It's the first time I've had GAS for anything other than a Dingwall in a very long time. Gotta have those fanned frets, regardless of what brand it is. Mayones makes some good stuff.

The sculpting on the body where the neck joins is very interesting. Personally, I prefer smaller frets, less 'busy' top-wood, and I think I'd want the bridge pickup a bit closer to the neck. Nice bass for someone else. :)

The scale is too short for my personal taste. After playing an Afterburner and a Combustion for a while now, I don't want anything shorter than that 37" B string.

This is news to me. I've had mine for 6-7 years and they are still in excellent shape.

Question for you all:

I've been told that some of my order may be done as soon as a couple of months from now. I'm super excited, but there's a minor spec I was thinking about changing that involves the neck and I'm afraid it may be too late for that. Will Dingwall sell me a neck? I'm assuming they won't if it's just for a project, but if I'm replacing a neck on another Dingwall, would they be a bit more accommodating?

I've heard of them doing it, but it's not cheap. I believe @reddavid purchased one a few years ago...

I was considering a fretless neck when I had 2 SJs. The cost would have been between $1200-1500 CAD IIRC. The reason I opted out though is it was essentially grabbing another build que to properly get in line. And would have been easily a 12 month wait at that time I was informed.

If it was a damaged neck replacement or something the wait time would be more accommodating

Yeah, I think I dodged a bullet, LOL! He said there should still be time to make some changes, so I went nuts! I made small changes to every bass I have on order, and one kinda big change, LOL! I'm happier now...;):thumbsup:

Thanks. It’s the only white one that I have seen. An early production 2004 MIK Skyline with factory-installed darkstars. This one found it’s way back to me (a second time!) after many years. I had loved the original inca silver paint, but the last owner had Marty Bell refinish it in Oly white and added white speed knobs. He also had Carl Pedigo rewire it, add a bone nut and a maple neck shim. This makeover took it from great to fantastic! The neck is one of the most comfortable I have played! Only surpassed perhaps by my <back on topic ;)> Dingwall Super PJ5. Very different animals though.

When was your order placed? I'm curious because mine should hopefully be coming up soon too.

Lemme check...


edit: Looks like it's been right at a year. My initial correspondence was at the end of March 2018, and the order was placed the first few days of April 2018.

My ETA of June, which was based on my previous specs, has now been bumped back to October/November with the changes I just made. I'm actually ok with that. It gives me a bit more saving time.

Sort of same thing here. I placed an order with a dealer in Italy in July, who said he had an order already placed, due early 2019, which he could still modify. So I went ahead and placed the order. But it "should be here any minute" has been the status for the last 2 to 3 weeks. The suspense is killing me (not my dealer's fault, he's extraordinary). Dingwall told them it would ship early last week. :confused:
