What a beauty! I'm actually looking for a Super JP5, the older one looks much more sexier than the new ones lol

I am in your area PM if you would like to try out my Combustion 3x 5 string. It is almost a year old now so still in spec with what a new one has. Search my posts in this Thread for info on it.

That looks a lot like my first SJP minus the gold paint job. Mine was one of the originals for NAMM in 2006 I believe. I moved it in a trade for my current Z3.
It had the skinniest neck I’d ever played. 1.4” at the nut (perpendicular to the neck).

I wouldn’t mind still owning it but my current SPJ is a cut above anything I could imagine

I have a tracing for a 4 that @spiritbass sent me when I bought his P pickups. Most pickguard makers are going to prefer you send an actual pickguard to work with though. You will have much better luck working from the original SJ guard and getting the P opening correct than you will working from a tracing. I can see why, as it took several tries for me to get everything close.

I can mail you the tracing, but I might be able to get a digital file of my final template. That should get you closer.

My guard isn't perfect but the price was right:smug:

The new finishes of the Combustion are simply beyond compare; stunning! I debated the question when I ordered my 6-string and decided on the Combustion. I LIKE the EMG pre. Not that I don't LIKE the Darkglass; I usually order all my Canadian built basses with the Darkglass and think them spectacularly stunning. But I do think the EMG just a bit more versatile when considering the Combustion versus the NG, and one can always get a Darkglass pedal. It really depends on the sound one wants.
