The demand is not there, frankly. Anything lower than low B really doesn’t really speak well with the rest of the strings.

We are working on a set of Payson Fanned bright flats that sound absolutely brilliant. The low B however is lacking in detail compared to the rest of the set. Thinking of mixing a roundwound .130T with the Bright Flats set, but hesitant how players might embrace the mixed string set. DB players have been doing it...

Feel between the two would be odd. What about just using the standard True Flats low B? Or are the results the same and not as bright as desired?

Not that I'm aware of. Bug @Blues Cat to make one. :D Though demand might be an issue...

Thanks for the replies dudes, I knew it was a pretty silly question but had to ask.

You know what's tough? When you find a good guy on Talkbass and he makes you a really nice pickguard and then you have to admit that some Reds fans are ok :smug:

You guys saw @nellie48 s pics of his NG3, well here's my blue one with my "two of a kind" abalone pickguard. Thanks again for figuring out a way to eek 2 out of that blank! I didn't have any daylight so I tried to get flash on one of them (2 pictures if you arrow over. Edit - I don't know why the first pic is hi res in imgur but blurry here, weird).

Looks great! And I know first hand how much better it looks in person. Photos just have a hard time capturing the blues, silver and blacks in the abalone. I had fun making it and learned a few things along the way.

You know what's cool? When your two most recent customers, who are both top-shelf first-rate individuals, meet up with each other and become friends because of a shared passion for great instruments and great amps. I love that!
Congratulations x 2 for an extremely cool pickguard, you guys are awesome! Very well done!
So when are they going into mass production? :-)

Actually isn't it one of a kind right now - the other one was rounded off slightly. Or do you mean the color?

Yes, it is one of a kind. There is also the truss rod route.
Yeah you guys are right I wanted the truss rod route and the shape differed slightly. As such I can now put it for sale in the classifieds as a unique, custom, botique-builder special for $109.99 ;):)

Hey folks... I tune my NG3 5 string to A, C, G, C, F. If you had to choose between Payson Stainless Steel .145, .105, .85, .65, .45 OR Kalium .148, .124, .81, .65, .41 strings, what would you choose? I like solid tension with no flop whatsoever. Advice?
