Hey no apologies on the playing and that was very helpful! Lots of great tones there. In particular the ones that stood out to me were the 3rd passage played in the beginning, and then the two passages back to back around 2:38-3:00. The latter got a little woofy in the low end but the bass could easily be dropped a little to compensate. Any chance you made notes on what those selections were? Thanks again! Hearing this definitely tells me this is one of the options I will get.

Ampeg SVT, set "true flat" (i.e. not "knobs at noon", but, set to where it's actually an almost flat EQ setup).
DI'd for this -- I should have a mic'd 2x10 of the same recording, but I think I deleted that WAV.
All done in one take. No post processing of any kind. Bass > SVT > DI > Reaper.

So just one setting on the rotary of "All three" where the pickups are wired B/M Parallel in series with the Neck, then s/p switches for each pickup noted above?

Correct. I have other clips for the other rotary settings, with similar run through of the toggles + max preamp

I'm so confused! Earlier I thought the all on setting was bass and middle in series with the neck in parallel, but this is saying the opposite. But to be fair Nate said iirc. So is this the typical setup for all on? I'm sure Mo will be familiar with it also as I'll touch base with him before John ships the bass to him in the next few days.

You’ll need to have pickguard custom made for it as Dingwall don’t make them anymore for that style of Super J.

Yes, this is the typical setup. If Mo is making you a 6x, then you can pick what you want I guess. Dingwall defaults are:

Thanks for the suggestions guys. Glad I asked because I wasn't even aware of the Droc setting and it's really cool. I'm set on having Mo set me up with:

1) B-M (parallel) in series with N (all on)
2) B-M series
3) B-M parallel
4) B-N parallel
5) Middle
6) Neck

Now I can't wait for it to make it's way to cow country!

Thanks, I think it will be great. It's just a goofy slang term for Iowa (or really anywhere out here in the agricultural midwest).

I remember talking to Sheldon about those pick guards and it was the inconsistency in the control plate shapes that was causing problems at the time. They all had to be adjusted to the batch of plates they had.

This is a real concern. I have some Warmoth Jazz Basses that have used different pickguards, control plates, and onboard preamps with a built-in control plate. The variability from source to source is pretty astounding. It seems like it would be standardized, but it is anything but.

I've heard it mostly for Iowa, but also Wisconsin and Minnesota at times.
