Here's a stupid question for you all.
Anyone take delivery of their Amethyst Burst Combustion yet? (the 10th anniversary one) I got an email that mine is now expected in July, but wasn't sure if that was unique to the specs of the one I ordered (5er, Pau Ferro).
Figured I'd ask. Dying to see that Amethyst burst in the flesh (beyond the two pictures already available)

The AB's don't seem to keep their value as well unless you have specific options, the wenge neck on mine was a fairly cheap upgrade when I ordered it back in 2013 but it's more than triple the cost now I think (not a complaint, Dingwall pays their employees a living wage and wenge is apparently not much fun to work with).
On that Super J (the one in bruno40gr's post), I personally think it's a pretty good price but then I'm a big fan of the earlier ones with the control plate.
I don't personally care for the new design without the control plate at all on the Super J (the x tops are good but that's a whole new price point) so I'd probably pay more for an older one to get that look.
I like the feel and weight of the thinner bodies, but I prefer the larger loop headstock, the recessed tuner bores and of my two (SJ5 P/J, SP5 P/J), the older one sounds better.
I'm thinking I will be removing the shims under the bridge pieces of NG2 in the near future to improve the action on the higher frets. Any advice or tips? I expect it should be a very simple thing to do, but I do have some concerns about damaging the finish during the removal process.
No worries. A tip when re-attaching the bridge pieces - with the tip of the screw in its hole and the screwdriver resting on it, turn it backward (CCW) to let the threads find their seat before driving it home. Learned this years ago from the owner of the music store where I worked.
Hey all. I'm very excited to be getting my dream bass soon. I'll not prematurely post a NBD pic or video before it's in my hands though . But John Fox @xnewyorka (the most patient and helpful guy I've worked with in a long time) will be making me a very proud new papa soon.
Anyway it's a Z3 and I am likely having it shipped to Mo for a 6 way switch prior to getting it to me because I really want the middle as an option. For the last spot I don't know whether to do B-M parallel or M-N parallel. Has anyone ever heard or know of an example of M-N parallel? Otherwise maybe I just play it safe with the former which is in the NG2's.

Yeah, those are the really early ones - especially for 5-string. That feature does not bother me either way. My only concern is that if I ever damage that D-string tuner (in your case, G-string tuner), that I will not be able to source a replacement because it is a custom fit. Maybe a regular one with an additional washer...

Yup, it'll be eleven years old this fall - an '09. When I'm tuning up my other three, I have to press the string behind the retainer to release any drag. I'm used to it, but it's nice to not have to...
My Combustion 5 had them under the E and B strings and it was simple as taking the bridge piece off and remounting the bridge. Follow @spiritbass 's tip!

Congrats...couldn't have found a better seller than John. I've sent several Dingwalls to Mo. He is world-class. I had him mod one of my NG3s with a 6 way selector switch. You are smart to go with a middle only selection. Best position for a P bass vibe IMO. As for the other selection, I'd go N-M parallel because I like a Music Man option.
