My local Dingwall dealer only seems to get in sets for the Super series. It looks like I'll have to give another brand of strings a try... Do us Canadians have to pay duties on Payson strings?
I dont believe so. It’s been a bit since placing an order..... it hurts every time with our crap arse $ but I do love the paysons
what do you normally get? Stainless or nickel?

A new fanned fret bass landed yesterday. Not a Dingwall but here is a size comparison to a Z
I really like the blue one they made but I've found a bit of shoddy fretwork and never was a fan of some of the pickups they use (two previous basses were ibanez before I found dingwall). Awesome looking bass though!!! HNBD!

It looks like the offspring of Ibanez and Strandberg to my eyes. Cool design. I hope you dig it!

it had a few unimpressive conditions from the factory but overall it’s actually really great.
initial review attached. It’s definitely grown on me since yesterday. I feel like it’s opening up a bit and it was thirsty. It definitely sat for a bit before reaching my supplier. It transit or what not. Now that I’ve had a chance to give it some moisture and rub the coating off the strings it’s starting to show me what it can do.

I agree. Very Strandberg. I think it would be more fair to compare it side x side with a Strandberg then a Dingwall....
maybe an AB for neck feel but the shorter scale really is a major factor in comparisons. The B sounds really good. Super series good and the shorter scale can be be official but at the same time I almost feel “claustrophobic” compared to the familiarity of the longer scale.

I really like the 18mm on the long scales. 19 I can work with. This thing I have set to 17.2mm and I think it’s pretty much maxed out. It’s ok. I think it’s pretty tight and right at the edge of comfort for my tastes.

I have been a happy observer and have enjoyed hearing everyone’s opinions and discussions for a couple of years.
You all (especially Nate) have peeked my interests and I really wanted to try a Dingwall Bass.
I have been playing a longtime and have high quality instruments but fanned frets and the Dingwall story forced me to say I have to get a Dingwall.
The worst part is the availability to try to one and I really did not want to wait a couple of more years to get one.
So I reached out to Nate (who I hold totally responsible) and of course he encouraged me to take the plunge.
So as of yesterday I am the Ecstatic owner of a new Dingwall AB II 6string and I am loving it.
I am used to 5strings and I am playing beadg and eadgc but to have it all in one instrument is astounding.
I will say this instrument is going force me to become better because of its transparency and the loads of options.
I would like to join the Club.

I've used both stainless and nickel equally, but I have a slight preference for stainless, as they sound a little less to harsh to my ears when they're fresh out of the box.
