The founders of the band I'm currently in really wanted to play downtuned so I convinced them to go from Drop C to Drop B so I can just play my five string Dingwall without retuning.

In the past I played a five string with Drop D guitars and I really enjoyed having the low C sometimes but of course this only works if the guitarists don't always play open string riffs. But then it's really nice because it forces you even more to come up with interesting bass lines.
Since I have my NG-3 I'm really thinking about selling most of my other basses. My only interaction with them is to wipe of the dust they are gathering. I have a problem with my Dingwall, though. If I solo the bridge pickup 90 % of the time there's a significant drop in volume. It's so quiet that I thought there was no output at all, so it's not just bad EQ or pickup height. Sometimes switching back and forth works. I thought it could be a lose cable, so I tried to tie it to the electronics but since just switching back and forth works some times, I don't think it's really a lose cable. Does anyone have any ideas? I don't think it's a problem in pickup selector positions 1–3 but it's difficult to say for sure.
