Fretlesses

Good morning members.
I hope you are all well. I am excited to have a 3rd Dingwall fretless scheduled. It was originally going to be finished for July 2020, but is moved to July 2021. I love my basses, but this one, I'm really excited about. For about 4 years I've wanted this bass and it will soon be with in my grasp. It once again will be a unique instrument that will have originating features in the Dingwall world. It is going to be another Super PJ fretless.

Do you have a fretless? Please post pictures of your bass or a description what you have coming!

You gotta let it roll off you, man. Don't feed trolls.

Just because I was curious (and forgetful), I searched for the original post. It was a one-sentence offhand remark from 2017 in a discussion of whether fretless Dingwalls were made. @TheEmptyCell got a single response (essentially: judge not), and then the post seemed to have been forgotten. I know nothing about Steve (@----GODMODE----) other than he lives (or lived) in Regina, has a YouTube channel, his original fretless (the referenced instrument) is a real beauty, he plays well, and that he wasn't part of the original discussion. His user name is a reference to the name of his bass and its technically challenging nature.

@TheEmptyCell seems to be a nice guy with lots of positive posts. I don't judge him by one out of the many. I do understand why Steve would be upset, however. I would think that future communications between the two could be handled on a DM basis.

Currently on order:

AB-II 5-string 2xFDV Passive w/Toggles
Macassar Ebony X-Top, Black Limba body, Purpleheart contrast layer
Wenge neck, Macassar Ebony fingerboard, Unlined

Ordered in March 2020 and due to ship somewhere near September 2021. This will be my first real fretless and first Dingwall without a painted finish. I might have to name it IDDQD...

Man, that sounds nice! I love macassar ebony, and black limba is such a cool wood, very light. I love the purple heart contrast layer, a bit biased as I have two the same and a new bass being made by a friend with a layer as well.
I can't wait to see your bass!

Fair point. I think I was annoyed because in a search for a different fretless Dingwall, my bass immediately came up and the first link was his comment.

... Thanks for the nice comment, I appreciate that.

Hi Godmode

I am looking forward to seeing your new bass-even if it it isn’t mine the anticipation is building to see it.

I just got my first Dingwall and 6string bass this year and am loving it. I still blame Nate and tell my wife that he is what caused me to go wild and purchase this.

I also have a Dingwall Fretless on my bucket list. (May just stay on the wish list and never hurts to dream).

Sometimes we have to live vicariously through others experiences and Fretless basses

I look forward to seeing yours.

please feel free to post pix of your current basses. I am always entertained to view Dingwalls.

Thanks! Congrats on the Dingwall, and keep pursuing the fretless. They are worth it. I've owned a pile of Dingwall basses but sold all but the fretlesses.
The new bass next year sorta completes my current collection but I want about two more after that. Haha... The pursuit of New Bass Day never ends...

Dang it! I wish I could figure out what IDDQD stands for without asking........

So that's me asking... :help::unsure:

Well you can just go and tell your wife...... "your welcome!" from me...

I may have coaxed you into adding some absolutely beautiful "Functional Art" to your home and Surely she can appreciate its beauty and stare at it with curiosity and wonder every time you have it out.

Id say the best possible thing for you to do so she can even appreciate it more would be to make sure you have some nice Hercules wall hangers up in every commonly used room so the Dingwall can be admired from all angles and at all times of the day when not in use..... again just tell her "your welcome" from me and I accept gratitude in the form of Lucky bastard vodka, and any Mead( lots to choose from here in alberta). Also accepted- gratuitous shots of internet dingwall pron.

I had the chance to put hands on an NG 6 yesterday.

the neck was awesome. Way nicer on this one then I anticipated. It’s definitely bigger then my Zs of course(different profile spec) but still very comfortable.

killer tone. Great feel. Sooooo tempting to bring home but checks off Zero boxes of NEEDS in my world so I was proud of myself when I was able to leave l and m empty handed. A couple beauty 4 strings too.

Btw..... with the total dingwall convo I thought I’d add that this is the serial number.
