So, the mixer we use is the Soundcraft Ui24R. We all have aux-mixes off of that stage box. In a situation where there's a decent (or at least an 'independent' FOH PA, we just in sert it between the stage lines and the FOH snake. They get clean splits with nothing added/done to them to mix as they please. If we're in a room that we need to provide FOH, we just use the main mix on the Ui24R as the FOH mix. We have a 'generic' main mix that can be the starting point for every show as needed. Since the Soundcraft save all your last settings (or you can load previously saved settings if you play a room lots)...it's not really any more work if you're doing your own PA. It also has the proficiency of mix and control as something like the M32/X32 boards for FOH Mixing.

We still do have live amps on stage, but after years of gigs, they're all pretty well dialed in.

On the Drum thing...in a room that we reach where the 'house' sound says "Oh we don't really mic drums here" or even only mic one or two pieces. We have a few strategies. First off is that we can just put an overhead on the kit and just use it for the IEMs. Or if we want we can do overhead-kick or overhead-snare-kick. Though honestly kit is loud enough on stage that many nights I'm not doing more than just a little hat and kick.

Ha, I have a Ui24R and haven't used it yet! I know it's overkill, but I figured I would rather have more and not use it than want more later.

The nice thing is that it's as much or little as you want.

Also, it multi-tracks to flashdrive brilliantly and has good sounding preamps. We've used it for hundreds of shows to record and have used recordings to mix down for releases too.

What BurningSkies and you (depth, clarity, musicality) said is spot on. I 'overspent' my budget on a Tardis 700 but that was the best decision I made gearwise. I use either a Combustion 5 or an ABZ 5 with it (into Fearless 112s) and use preamp pedals if I want a bit of hair or grit, but the combination of punch, warmth and '3D openness' (how's that for a subjective tone description...) quality of the tone leaves me with a smile everytime I play through it. The ABZ5 FDVs are just lush with it, while it tames the combustion's FD3s - which I find (YMMV) a tiny bit aggressive (I'm really nitpicking) for my personal taste/what I play - just right.

This was a deciding factor (although I looked at the Demeter too... couldn't find one at 220V):

Based on those demos, I prefer the Demeter by quite a wide margin. There's noticeably more clarity to it (with whatever setting they are being demo'd with).

I like the idea of tubes and warmth, but I really like a quick and defined attack, so anything with tubes has never impressed me enough to buy or stick with it.

The Demeter is a nice preamp as well.

I can say that when we recorded the first Root Shock album, we double tracked the bass into the Monique and into an Avalon U5, which was the chosen DI of the producer...and after detailed listening back the Monique won out. That was with the Sensitivity control pulled way back on the Monique and the Rastaburst.

Just chrome hardware which somehow failed to make it onto my original order. It's going to be a very classic-looking bass.

Yep. They had a few tweaky things on mine too...the inlays were listed as pearloid dots, etc. Easy enough to sort. my only really special request was for a bit of customization on the electronics. I just know some guys have basically changed their specs about 97879878 times.

Glad I’m not one of those guys.
I only changed it 97879873 times. :thumbsup::angel:

I think that this demo was looking for particular vibes so I wasn't too concerned - YMMV, but in combination with the Hypex module, and although these words would not be the first that would come to mind for the Monique, I don't ever perceive a lack of quickness or attack.

The serial for the one I have on order is in the 6000s although I suspect the serials don't help guestimate the actual number all that much as you have to add the pre-fire basses, combustions, D-birds, D-rocs etc.

I don't think the import line serial numbers count into the Canadian models. I expect there are more of the imports now.
