It's a huge sound. Less treble overall. I don't notice a different "bite" between the high and low strings. It's still balanced, but a radically different tone palette. When I'm in series, I boost the highs and jam.

Got my P-tone pickup from FretNation today. I took the pickguard off for the first time and I'm not 100% certain where the wire for the P-tone in the neck position is supposed to go. Is it supposed to just run under the other pickups in order to make its way to the control cavity? The neck/third pickup position was routed out from the factory, but there isn't a hold for the wire to run to the control cavity directly from that neck/third position.

Probably a bad time to ask in a world gone mad, but is there anyone in the Baltimore MD area that would be willing to let me check out their 5 or preferably 6 string Dingwall?
I'm currently playing a 33" Muckelroy, which I absolutely love, but I've been GASing for a Dingwall for a while.
I'm mainly just interested in seeing how much further of a reach it would be compared to my Muck.

I figured out the answer to my prior question. I also got the P-tone pickup wired so now I have the P-tone wired direct to the output jack ring, and the two stock pickups left wired as-is (other than disconnecting the wire that went to the ring). Confirmed it's working, though I can't give it a really proper test because the screws included with the pickup are the wrong size

I've got a D-roc Standard 5 string arriving in the first quarter of 2021.
Can I ask any D-roc players ( particularly those with a 5 string custom ) if there are any hard cases that will fit?
I know the Dingwall gig bags are great quality, but a hard case may be nice for certain gigs.

If you're adding a third pickup, you'll be wanting to use a 3-pickup selector switch. If you are replacing a pickup, just swtch out its wires.

They sent you the Canadian size pickup screws didn't they, too big for the holes in the Combustions? I can send you the details for the correct size if you need em.

That must be it. The ones I got look like the screws for my NG's stock pickups, only bigger. I'm planning a trip to Home Depot later to see if I can find the correct size. Any info you have about the correct size will certainly help my search.
Had the issue when I put a P-tone in my combustion back in 2017, that picture is from Dingwall tech so they should be the exact right size & length. Being in Canada I had a bit of a time trying to find them in a small quantity for a sensible price, I think I ended up having to order off ebay rather than pay $50 for a boatload of em.

Question for Super J owners , these strings have the same gauge as the dingwall ones.
There is long and extra long scale.....would the long work? Would I have to adjust the action because of the lack of taper?

Fretnation offered to overnight them but I told him I should be able to get them locally. That speaks well of Fretnation.
