I got the correct screws from Home Depot and it sounds great. I still need to fine tune the pickup height, but even after just eyeballing it I'm happy with the sound.


I wired the P tone straight to the ring part of the output jack. The existing pickups go to the tip.

I've got a splitter pedal from Saturnworks that splits the output of the TRS cable to two mono signals, and then I run each of those through their own signal chains. Finally they get mixed to mono to go into the amp.

Correct, the P-Tone goes straight to the jack...no pots of any kind in the way. In general, I find myself preferring to tweak things on the pedalboard rather than on the bass.

Cut your own clear guard out of perspex etc. and spray the underside reverse burst (black in the centre to clear on the edges) that way you cover the route but still get to see more of that finish showing through.

Note that active basses use a tip/ring short to turn on the pre, so those aren't strictly free.

And she plays about every other sunday on every song.. She is a great musician but flute is a "flavor" instrument and shouldn't be played throughout the entire song imo. Poor guitarist cant do lead parts without doubling up the flute!

Nice job! For some reason our live broadcast is always really bass heavy too - much moreso than the mix in the room. I own a number of basses and agree that my Dingwall is the best in the mix at church and gets the most compliments.

He really did, I was kicking myself with whether or not to go with the black fade or to just get the full thing done, back and sides included. I think the black really makes it pop and I love how he did the cutaway. I think this was his first bass but I don't think it will be his last haha.

I can't because the route on the 2015 models won't let you add a third pickup, the guy says he can do a holoflash pickguard as well but I'm not sure if I'm with that idea. I'm gonna marinate with the idea but I think a simple matte black might contrast the best due to it absorbing light.
