Ok D’wall cats gotta string question. I picked up a superb Super J a couple of weeks and posted some pics. I am a fan of lighter gage strings...had D’addario Pro Steels on my Sadowsky...loved em’....100 E .040 G. I assume they’ll work on my Super J since the E is 34.25”? D’wall offers med scale strings designed for a Super J or P but they are .105 E and .045 G. I don’t see that they make a lighter gage. Any feedback is appreciated and stay safe!!!

A couple of options - Jason @ Fretnation. He's up on Dingwalls and can set you up with a custom set. Payson offers a (nickel) light gauge set for the Super series that are very good.

They will work, but the tension/tightness is going to feel different than on your sadowsky. Other than dingwall’s own strings, Payson sells also medium scale strings specifically designed for the medium multi-scale basses :)

Super series can run all kinds of strings. Is it a four or five string Super J?

B strings get a little tricky because there isn't much room between nut and tuner. If you have questions, Jason would know the answer, and he's super helpful with custom orders.

Payson now has strings made for the Super series. Very nice strings. Payson was kind enough to do custom sets for me, but I asked real nice. Super pretty please.

TI jazz flats 345 will work, but it'll take some setup as the B and E aren't tapered at the ball end. Saddle cap head screws are easy to find at the hardware store if you need shorter for lower action at the bridge.

I love the DR Pure Blues Victor Wooten .040 set. Nickel rounds. I've run DR lowrider, Hellborgs with an added B or an added C. I really liked the Super J strung E-C. I just had the GHS Boomers .030 set on my Super P. Lots of fun with that set up.

For super super light, I've been running standard tuning E-G with A-C strings (75, 55,40,30) Pure Blues, or Low Riders, or whatever else I have on my shelf. I started the experiment with used sets plus C strings, so it was inexpensive to play around with the concept. Now that I'm sure about it I have new sets coming in.

No problems with the truss rod adjustments and getting a super straight and low action is a breeze. So far, no problems with open string rattles at the nut or nut height either.

Of course, YMMV...

Ivan, can you post a pic of the 2 medium fanned scale set guages we offer? I need to add the lighter guage 4 string sets to the site .100 .080 .060 .042 (or .040)

Thanks :D One of the doctors told me all went fine, but i still have to talk to my surgeon.

Yep. Once they get to the point of confirming your specs you've got a lot of flexibility. ;) If I remember correctly, I got one email saying that production was close and to revise/review...then another month or so down the line a last email asking me to confirm the work order.

Yes a buyer can spec what they want. And the buyer will have the option of changing their spec after the build starts but at some point later in the build process that option goes away for obvious reasons. Ordered some Payson .100 thru .042. Keep fann’n those frets y’all!
