Dingwall Owners Club

Wait... Sheldon just responded to my post... I don't know what to do with that.
I think I need to sit down now...
Is there a chance I can ask you (or someone in your team) a few more questions, maybe?
Sheldon is always approachable. I was constantly amazed when I would call the shop and “the Man” answered the phone. He always took the time to help me out. Great customer focus!

That's Keith, and he's a local friend of mine...and a really good professional brewer, believe it or not. He's the person I bought what became the Uber-Fretless Combustion from, and the reason he had those strings.

That post is from this past summer...I don't know if he's around TB that much these days but if anyone tries to message him and has a hard time, let me know and I can reach him. He's a solid dude, so I can vouch for buying things from him.

I'd term him 'approachable but busy'. :) At the rate of tasking he and others in the shop have, they sometimes have to pick and choose their battles.

this one was calling at me.
Dingwall ABZ6 2020 3 Color Sunburst Matte | Shane's Place | Reverb
My wallet punched it in the face though and told it to leave.
That’s really nice, reminds me of the 2 tone burst ABZ6 I had a couple years ago.
In Avocado?
Not this time. I’ve amended my desire: an AB1 because I’m after a solid color. A passive 2x 6 string in a classic Fender color like Shell Pink or—my favorite—Capri Orange.

I’m discussing with a dealer right now.

I recall seeing an AB-something with a pickguard from the factory before. If the shop can’t do that, it’s okay, I’d just talk with Terrapin about making one.

I’m kind of looking for the understated suped up modern bass with classic style. Something that will look real nice next to my SP5 and compliment what it can do tonally.

I really like the Sklar I just got, but I think it’s time to go full custom.

Orange flake or pearl would be pretty awesome, cream pearl pickguard....

With a solid finish, I’d have Sheldon and team pick the very lightest pieces of alder for the body. Maybe even chamber under the pick guard. Do you think a -8lb six string could be done?
My old ABZ6 was only 8 lbs and a few ounces. I'm sure they could build one sub-8, but I'm not sure the weight savings are worth the expenditure on my end.

Nice slot in the guard to get to the truss rod.

This one I believe they customs shaved the neck down at the heel to fit the pick guard
After looking at the AB series more closely, it seems like a pickguard would be an exceptionally expensive options since they would need to shave down the neck heel.

I love the profile pic with Lee... have you posted a picture of your LSS somewhere? I was so tempted, but then had to admit that the personal-skill-to-cost-of-equipment ratio was reaching unsustainable levels even with a 20y/o used Dingwall...
I dropped a few pics several pages back, I believe.

I'd be really concerned about catching my finger on the inside edge of those pickguards when popping, or on the screw heads.

Sure, Billy is a great point of contact for general questions. [email protected] If he can't answer them, he knows who will be the guy with the best answers. If that guy happens to be me, he'll forward them to me.
