It's just a stock vinyl sticker I cut to size and put on, it's not super tidy round the bridge pieces but you can't see that unless you're up close. Looks fine from a couple of feet away ;)

This one is my mod bass that I got so I didn't have to take my more expensive ABZ on the road. It has black US hipshot hardware and P-tone in the middle there, went from a standard combustion to 3x then to 2x with a P-tone.

I have too many 5 strings at the moment and kinda need a 4, so this one will probably have to go soon.

I often struggle to understand not taking the best instrument one has to shows. My Prima Artist is (and has been for a few years) THE bass I pick up when I'm heading out to a show, unless I need 6 string, or need 3x pickup bass. I bought the basses to play, and, the P.A. plays (and most often sounds) the absolute best... I can't imagine leaving it at home and taking something out that I'll get less enjoyment from.

It really only makes sense to me if the bass being left at home is super rare (like Bill’s Rastaburst) or you’re playing some place really sketchy.

I think the best solution for you might be to just wear the bass the other way around, with the strings pointing towards you. Then it will all make sense... :roflmao:

It feels like a speed knob and speed knobs have the numbers on the knob. I think that's what's happening in my brain.

I think we just play very different shows, I’d rather not have the anxiety of playing something that cannot be replaced quickly and easily in some of the less salubrious rooms my band plays in.
Whether that be a basement show that gets a bit raucous or just an awful dive bar where theft is more of a concern.
It’s also not so much fun throwing your prized position in the back of a van full of sweaty oiks ;)
On the bar shows with a nice stage or if we’re on a short run I take whatever bass I’m preferring that week. The other times the replaceable one goes.

The best thing about the combustion’s is they are pretty damn close to the Canadian models so it’s not like you’re having to play something sub standard those times where you wanna be a little risk averse.

she's home! kind of heavy for a Dingwall. I love the aesthetics of this one; reminds me a lot of Fenders. got a replacement nut to tune it B-G, and it screams. Can't wait for a band rehearsal coming up.

Can you keep the bass with you (or someone you trust) at all times? Let's say you're touring seedy clubs and leave your instrument backstage or in the van to go grab a bite, and your gear gets stolen while you're stuffing your face, how much are you going to kick yourself? Then again, if you mostly do short runs in reputable venues, it's much more comfortable to bring the good stuff, ymmv.

And especially during the load in/out. We always have someone that is inside with the gear and outside watching the cars. More critical during load out when it's dark and the liquor has bumped up the stupidity index.
