Someone here has had shells sent to Nordstrom’s in the past IIRC. I have been under the impression that it’s possible. The Big man with the plan @Sheldon D. was on here earlier and perhaps could shed some light on this topic. It seems to come up now and then.
So EMG won't sell me the pickup guts and Dingwall won't sell me the shells, the proverbial rock and a hard place. Not to worry, we go to plan "C", and that is to buy the two EMG Jazz style JCS pickups and have the pickguard maker make the NG2 style pickguard but with precision cutouts in the same exact pickup slots so as to now fit the EMG Jazz style pickup in there. Of course the pickguard will have to have a little customization, as in the very bottom part needs to be enclosed. The pickguard will be made with only the rectangles of the jazz style pickups being cut out, not like a Fender where the 4 little ears are cut out as well for the screws. Its going to work, and no destruction of the Dingwall. Thank heavens my pickguard maker is super slow at what he does and hasn't cut me the one he was making for the full size EMG rectangles.

Why would you have your pickguard made without the ability to adjust your pickup heights?
Few days in with this new monster. Totally love the finish and quality of the instrument. Best looking bass I own and it definitely is killer. At this stage it needs work to make me really happy though. I am not the biggest fan of the DG pre. It gets too full on too quick and I am finding myself having to pull back my tone when i dig in or play with a lot of dirt. I normally have a really bright tone in general but with new strings and the DG pre it hard to tame. I have a Delano Sonar with the switchable mid-bands at home for another project so I think that will be going in.
I have a set of stainless steel strings ready to go on aswell. All my other basses I use prosteels and I like the lower tension of them in general. I am hoping that I can get the tension down a bit. As soon as i dropped the bass a full step it was incredible how much better it sounded and felt.
Fan frets were a total non-issue took no time at all. The upper register stuff feels like playing fretless kinda and takes a bit more thinking but still the advantages are greater than the disadvantages.
When bank recovers all black hipshot as I cant do shadow chrome but this thing is killer and will get the job of anything dropped or heavy but I hope to get it to the point of being a one stop shop.
Because I am a 'set and forget' type of bass player. I have all my tone knobs on my TC BQ-500 head set at high noon and they will stay that way, unitll... I do all my tone adjustments on my pedals and those knobs will stay that way, untill... All my bass's only have a master volume control, thats it. All pickups are wired in series, on all basses, on all the time, and all basses have the EMG-JCS's in them (the Dingwall shortly). If I want a little 'dirt', I kick on my DG B7K pedal, again, all those knobs and switches are set and will never be touched, untill... My pickups will be at full height in Dingwall because they will both be out of my pick landing zone (the middle of the bass). I never had a need to adjust pickup height unless it was to lower it flush with the top of the pickguard becuase the bass manufacturer planted a pickup right in the middle of my bass (my pick landing zone) and I would hit the top of it all the time. I have my clean sound and my *slightly* dirty sound, and its dialed in perfectly. Thats all I need to play my 550+ songs I play. All of these knobs and switches and dials have been set to forget, unitll...untill this one special little 3 year old girl comes in my music room and wreaks havoc with anything that has lights on it and controls. So I photographed all my knobs and dials with my phone..
Sorry if you have already answered these questions, and feel free to slap me around if so, but why swap an NG to EMGs? And, have you considered a Combustion? I’m genuinely curious, but haven’t had time to read every post lately due to work.
I have a Combustion, a Whalepond blue one with the round edge pickups. I had a pickguard made to turn it into the 'NG2 style' pickup configuration. I have EMG35-JCS model (which is a single rail pickup in a double rail case) soapbars in my 3 other basses, I really like the sound of that EMG model. I 'was' going to plunge a router into my Combustion and make way for 2 rectangle EMG's of that same flavor but realized that EMG makes this same model in a jazz bass type casing. Now I finally realized I can have the same EMG's in my Dingwall that I like but not destroy the integrity of the Dingwall. I am really happy I figured all of this out with no damage needing to be done to the Dingwall.

I am confused and think someone is throwing up (i.e., super negative). The visual just doesn't seem to imply a positive emotion... (and yes, I realize that's 
) and next to each other this is clearer... but still... the drool emoji always causes me to be startled for a moment...Curious how so? I notice the maple one really can present itself differently in different lights

To my eyes it looks a bit lighter than I remembered compared to other pictures. Like now it's a little more "milk chocolate" than "dark chocolate" to my eyes.

And I'm with you on flamed maple, it can get pretty crazy at different angles or under different light.
