Woah that is weird that it's that high.. Do they have any eq charts/graphs out there for their stuff?
Not that I’ve found but the high band extends well into the usable range for a bass so it has to be an incredibly wide Q and can’t be a shelf. Beyond that all I know is that it’s effective at adding shimmer and air without getting into any nasal or ganky frequencies in the upper mids.

My musing of the day: a multi-scale fretless bass cannot be called a fanned-fret bass (obvious). So, would it be a fanned-fretless bass? If so, what is it that is “fanned”, the intonation?

Just multiscale fretless.

I use 'multiscale' and 'fanned fretless' regularly. People understand both.

Silly question because I don't know much about electronics:

Is this a ground soldered to this pot?

I'm trying to replace the stacked treble/bass and stacked variable mid with solo bass and treble pots. The black wire is coming from the bridge pickup, and there is not a similar wire coming from the neck pickup.

I’ve had Supers with the Aguilar and the Glockenlang. Both are very nice, with the Glock being my favorite. It was super clean and very responsive. I’d set a bit of bass boost and turn it off, reaching for the switch for a volume/bass boost.

95% of the time I’d run passive, and I loved the hybrid tone control in the passive mode.

Turns out I just prefer passive and all my current Dingwalls are passive.

Only active bass I have is the Cirrus. I rarely move the three band eq’s from their center detents. Mostly I roll the pickup blend a bit either way, but it’s mostly centered as well.

I haven’t had a bass with the Darkglass tone capsule. I have had a number of DG pedals come and go, and the Alpha Omega Ultra was a super cool clean eq. I still sold it on after the honeymoon.

The glock, to me, is more "musical" in the sense that I can use it as an engineer would. Not for "tone" or for "my sound" per se - hard to describe what I'm trying to get at, but, I think @silky smoove kinda nailed it -- it's a problem solver first. The EQ points read as if they should be horrible, but, in practice, work SO DANG WELL. A little goes a really long way with each EQ point. I rarely go past a 1/4 turn on anything.

There are a whole lot of ways of spec'ing EQ points, some of my amp builds peak at anywhere from 10K-30K at full boost but in some cases you can still hear something happening at ~2K when boost is cranked. It's been a while since I bench tested a few Glock preamps but I remember them being a bit like that. I liked them quite a bit in any case.

Those of you with fretless Dingwall's, how easy or hard is it to play. I have an NG3 and found there really was no adjustment moving to fanned frets, but I don't know that the easy translation on a fretted instrument translates to an also easy transition on a fretless. How easy or hard is it to play with proper intonation as compared to regular "fretted" fretless?

I'd love to see you put a newer 3-band Glock through it's paces!

I really shouldn’t be stabbing at this but it sure looks like a ground to me.
Where does it go?

It's coming from the bridge pickup and is soldered to the one of the pots of the Tone controls I want to replace. I had tried following the installation instructions per EMG with no luck. Which is weird, because looking at their layout vs how the bass is currently wired looks different to me.

Maybe Tech@dingwallguitars can help you out with drawing it out.

still sounds like a ground to me. What else could it be? Where on the bridge pick up is it tied in ?

FWIW, my GK Legacy 800 showed up today. Took no time at all to dial in the tone I was looking for. I can say that the over abundance of scoopness is gone. Sorry Mesa. Anyway, I now have a useable (for me) tone in both series and parallel settings. Awesome!

I played a 400+ for a year or two with my AB1...and just never could get there with the amp...even with the combination of two channels & their tone controls and the graphic EQ...Always felt like I was spending half the set turning around to adjust the amp EQ to continue to not be happy with it.

I think the real question is, do you have to pay a novax license on a fretless multiscale ? :)

You don't have to pay it on the fretted ones either these days. I know that Sheldon did (possibly still does, I dunno) license well after the the patent had passed away because he's like that...but not needed legally anymore.

I'd love to see you put a newer 3-band Glock through it's paces!

I still have one on hand that a luthier friend gave me to study, not sure how current the spec is though. Right now my computer based test gear could use a little upgrade, hoping to get that done pretty soon now that the interface I've been wanting is finally readily available.
