Dingwall Owners Club

Any chance you would ever sell the blue one? :woot:

Well erything has its price but having waited more than 2 years for that one I would only sell it only for an unreasonable amount of money ;) (Like I need a new house money)

I think it's still the only one with the ghost inlay and matching logo, all the others I've seen have solid logos.

Hi all, just wondering if anyone has been in contact with the Dingwall shop in the last few weeks by email? Particularly Jeff the tech?

I emailed on the 25th of last month about my newly delivered Z3 6 having a massive neck problem and haven’t heard a peep. My dealer here in Aus also tried on my behalf a week later and also hasn’t heard anything back. Nearly $11,000 and two years and this thing is looking to be a dud...

@Sheldon D. would love a little help here please. My truss rod isn’t loosening and the bass is unplayable right now, serial #6209. Thank you.

I don’t have any examples to hand but there are plenty of players using Dingwall for those styles. Our friend @Rocky55 is one, he has supers and a Z so will be able to give you his experience.
If you like passive then check out the ABZ, mine is hard to beat for versatility and simplicity. Mine is a 3X with a p-tone in the neck, it’ll cover that Fender ground easily. (Second from the left)

You would be correct. I still have my '77 P-bass, but it has only been out a handful of times in the past 20 years. I played Lakland 55-94 and Sadowsky for the past 20 years or so. I sold both of them after getting my Super J a couple years ago. I have since added a Z3 and an NG3, and have a Super P coming in August. I play a lot of country (some older, some newer), as well as classic rock. The Z3 is extremely versatile with the 3 pups and the S/P switches. I can cope pretty much any tone I want/need. Same with the NG3. The Super J is like a Jazz bass on steroids, but easy to mellow it out. We are working on a Tom Petty tribute show and it will be Super J (and maybe Super P). I've used the NG3 on a country festival backing up several artists as it was outside, very hot and lots of traffic on stage - and was afraid to leave my SJ unattended. Low and behold, that NG sounded country.

What I find with Dingwalls is that the mids allow you to cut through in a busy mix. If you want to lay low, roll back the tone a little, or the mids/treble if in active mode. I run in passive mode most of the time. Every sound tech that mixed us on bigger p.a. systems have commented on how well the bass sat in the mix - and I've used all 3 of them live (and in the studio). Same in smaller venues through bass cabs. There's no going back for me. I love my Dingwalls!

Yikes, haven't heard that before! Are you emailing [email protected]?

Can you also describe your problems with the neck a bit more? Maybe we can give you some more things to look at and try while the email issue gets sorted.

I found that the truss rod was harder to move on the ABZs I’ve owned. You might just need to give it more force than feels comfortable.

Hey Geggy, sorry that this has not been addressed, I'll look into it today.

They are rounded edged. So that and what AB Nate said, means it’s a newer model I’m assuming. But this is my first NG model so I’m kinda clueless on it. I got It on a trade. Bass sounds so good.

Dingwalls are truly in 'a league of their own', so welcome to the league. :) Enjoy learning how true that statement is and don't worry about what looks like premature fret wear, it's normal...

Actually, hahaha I prefer basses which have been broken in. This bass feels that way. I just can’t get over how in videos everyone uses it for metal and thrash (which is 100% fine) but this one just sounds so smooth.

To echo the choir of players here, Dingwalls 'work' in any genre. I use my NG-2 and Super series basses for gospel/praise music. They get you heard and sit great in any mix. It's wonderful that the the metal and thrash players helped to raise awareness of the brand. Sales of the Combustion/NG series basses literally saved the company and I know I'm not the only player grateful for that.
