Dingwall Owners Club

Got the 1/4” knob yesterday to go with the 4 6mm knobs, along with a postage paid envelope to return the extra 6mm knob. Shout out to Jason and Fret Nation, they were awesome to deal with. As promised, here’s the new look. I love it.

Looks great man!!
Does Pat work there? Edit - should have checked first, I’m in Canada sadly :( was hoping to get it done from the source

there’s a few good guys here in Calgary, @Nofrettin has a guy doing too notch work on his Dingwalls on the west coast.

your in Ab right?

you could check out Jboairbrush but I’d guess your looking at massive bucks for his work. Unbelievable skill though and he’s here in Calgary.

Hmmmm. You did so. Would it be chambered with no F hole?
Perhaps Mahogany body?

No, the classic AB1 is alder body, 5pc maple neck, wenge board, no front markers, flame maple top, passive and though it'd probably never happen again...bluEQube.

There was a good chuck of years where the AB1 had these features and nothing more or less. Some didn't have fancy tops.

I have two of those :) One with a flame top, one without. I might even still have the BluEQube's in my parts bin.

gotcha. Right to spec makes sense. I’m still day dreaming about a specific AB2

I'll eventually get one again. This is the one I had.

Awhile ago... maybe 2 years now? I tried to sell both of my "Classic" AB1s. I think I ended up dropping the price clear down to ~$1300 without a single bite. At that price there was no point in selling, so I gave up. They're fine basses and I am glad to have them, but, they don't get much in the way of play time.

It would be great if you can ever find another one for the price you sold this one for, right?

I have the exact model but I kept messing with mine until there was no hope of selling it and breaking even.

Who knows, I may eventually get that one back. I'm still friends with the person I sold it to...

If you want to sell one to me for that price, I'd be happy to discuss. But I'm holding out until 2022 before I get another bass. ;)

Let me get them out of the closet, cleaned up, looked over before I do anything haha. I may take it to PM with you two -- I'm sure I'm unintentionally treading well into the gray area about "posting FS on TB" without being a paying sucker. Already got one or two "infractions" for that.

No worries. No chance of me doing this right now anyway. Which finishes, etc.?

may not bode well for the making of a classic model. Without DG abs 3x it definitely drops it out of a contender position these days.

Yeah. 3x seems to be all the hotness -- for good reason, mind you. But there is a LOT of things to be said for the 2x basses. Any dingwall of any era is going to be a monster bass. My favorite is my Prima Artist which is "only" a 2x, and my hopefully finishing soon Z is "only" a Z1 as well.

I'm in a 'totally down with this but just can't be right now' zone. So, unless getting cash is an immediate and necessary concern they can stay in the closet a bit and I'm not going anywhere. I don't do the whole 'sneak buy then hide' thing so I'm at least up front about being in a holding pattern for buying. :)
