I don’t notice a significant difference between the Cali76TX and the UAD 1176 plug-ins. I got the Cali76TX because I wanted the same vibe in a live setting without needing to run a digital/modeling signal chain. Either way I really love the grit and saturation they can add without it being obvious distortion. When recording I often compress a bit on the way in with the Cali76TX and add a second layer of it in the DAW if needed.

I'd like to be able to do something similar to the following and am wondering if i can do it with this [Invalid or Expired Link Removed]

- neck solo
- middle solo
- bridge solo
- neck/middle parallel
- middle/bridge parallel
- all 3

It varies hugely depending on the light source & angle of the light. Sometimes it's a very dark blueish gray, then blue ( as shown ) then a mild purple shift
I think they've altered the colour slightly on the Korean ones. It's not as bright a colour as the 4 strings seemed. I like it though. It's a more subtle colour scheme.

Color shift would look cooler with a maple or ebony fretboard. Change my mind...

That is one of the coolest Dingwalls I've ever seen. Freaking gorgeous.

Man, you guys have some amazing basses.

I recorded a short clip with the NG3 and the TI flats. Rotary is neck + bridge parallel. A little bass boost, slight low mid cut, a little more on the high mid. This is straight from the bass into a Scarlett V1 2i2 with a little compression. If you would have told me two weeks ago I could get a tone like this with a maple fretboard, the extra scale length, and a Darkglass preamp of all things I would have told you to get help.

I'm hooked...

I am totally in agreement on the TI flats. I have had them on my NG2 for 2-3 weeks now and the tone is just killer. They're never coming off. I guess I shouldn't be surprised because the same thing happens every time I put TIs on a bass.

That sounds great! I'm also curious about the TI flats as I can't stand how low tension they are on a 34" instrument. Do they have more tension on a Dingwall?

I wish I could answer that for you. I've been using sadowsky flats prior to this. I can say I really didn't like the TI's at first, that initial private party outing with the bass last weekend was a workout! They settled a little a day or so later. The bass needed a tweak after that, they feel a ton better now. The sound is obviously different than the Sad flats, but I dig them so far.

Tonight is the first venue gig with the NG3. It's our normal monthly gig, I'm sure I will get some questions at break!
