Dingwall Owners Club

Wow beautiful! The body on the prima appears quite a bit smaller than the z's.
It would irk me too @Selta - sure, someone could ask for that same finish but seeing the pic used like that wouldn't feel good, especially after just getting that beauty.

What RHA III said - that Prima body does appear quite a bit smaller than the Z. Never noticed that before.

I'm guessing that's more a function of the angle and lighting - I am just about to leave home but I can directly compare them a bit later tonight. They "feel" the same (though the blue Z is hefty).

Maannnnn I don't know how to feel about this one.

I'm kind of flattered that someone may want an exact replica of my bass. I'm also kind of annoyed by it. Actually, more than annoyed. Someone tell me I'm being dramatic and lame about this.
It’s an understandable reaction. Offering a complete copy is kind of weird, if I was preordering a Canadian built Dingwall, I would personally prefer to be able to spec out the options. It’s different when using a build slot rather than buying a bass that’s already built. Buying not exactly what you would choose now, versus having to wait and getting your choice in options.

That’s cool. I have been mulling around a D-Roc 4 as a mod platform. I have an ACG East filter-based preamp. I have been wondering if those were going to move production to Korea/update the bridge (to a four string version of the D-Roc 5).
I would hate for that to happen right after I break down and buy one.
The other part of my brain says slap that pre into my Stradi Fretless and just commission the Super PJ I want.
So if you do a d-roc there aren’t many places for a battery box. By the bridge is where I found it was actually thick enough to get it in cleanly

I could totally see how this seems kinda dooshy, I’d probably be perturbed as well. I know the shop probably has a lot of wood in their back pocket but with variations that tend to persist it also seems kind of odd to be offering an exact copy.

Double trouble anyone?

I think it doesn’t help the seller on reverbs position portraying an exact bass, known to few really, but still, it’s not like they can offer that EXACT bass and then to picture it as “buy this” is very reminiscent of scammers even though I have no doubt they are a valid shop.

just doesn’t help the impression obviously left in this club.

Question for guys running the Darkglass Tone Capsule.. Is it me or does this thing chew through batteries? I put a new set in my NG3 before last weekend's gig they measured at 9.68v each, and just now prepping for my gig, they are 8.8V each. Energizer Max. I played quite a bit through the week (just at home) but this seems awfully quick. I'm wondering if I should just switch now or bring an extra set to the gig tonight. BL will not be happy if I go dead 2 hours into it.

Thoughts?

I’d say it’s odd

I rarely have to change the batteries in my basses with the Tone Capsule.

I’m shocked nobody’s asked ‘the question’ yet lol

Hey gustobassman,

I've changed the batteries in my NG3 twice in the 4 years I've owned it. 95% of the time I run the DGTC. Sounds like you might have an issue.

Bones

I’d say it’s odd

Greeeat, lol. When I brought it home from FN I swore watched Jason put two new Daddario batteries in it. A week later after the first gig they were down to 8.4 - he couldnt remember if the batteries he installed WERE new. I'm pretty sure they were. I could go through plenty of shows before my Sadowsky basses were down below 8.5v, this is my first run with the DGTC. I swapped them out anyway, I'll check the wiring after tomorrow's show.

I installed the DGTC on my Combustion and those batteries are fine.

And yes, I unplug when I'm not playing. Feel that coming from somewhere :roflmao:

A pinched or nicked wire, or mistake with the install could be causing the pre to stay on all the time and drain batteries.

My Cirrus was doing the same thing, draining a set in a couple weeks, even if it hadn’t been plugged in or played.

Turned out to be a wire pinched under, and nicked by the circuit board mounting brackets. A little heat shrink and a careful reinstall and all was well. Batteries last a year or more depending on playing time.
